I've gone back and watched some episodes, as well the End of Evangelion, so I was wondering if there are any non-Japanese reading friendly games about Eva. In the US?

Though I guess they are mostly Japan only.

I don't think so; I went through an Evangelion phase a couple of years ago and I couldn't find anything officially in English, but you may find a couple of fan-translated ROMs out there in darker corners of the webernet.

Was the End of Evangelion that awful film where everyone dies and Shinji masterbates over an unconcious Asuka?

I don't think there are any officially translated games, and to be honest I can see why. Like 97% of Evangelion games are dating sims or Mahjong, the only one that isn't is the N64 game. Which you can pretty much play without any knowledge of Japanese if you've seen the series.

Yeah, it sums up the series well, doesn't it?

No matter how bad the series got during the end it never went the levels of End of Evangelion.

I think it's because film censorship isn't as strict as TV censorship so Hideki Anno just thought "Fuck it, I'm making whatever the hell I want."

I do remember reading that it was made as a sort of "Fuck off" to all the fans that hated the last two episodes and wanted a proper ending.
