I hope there isn't a thread on this already, but I was wondering if there are people out there who get so mad while playing video games that they end up breaking stuff in the process. If so, post your stories here! I've heard of people breaking their stuff all the time, I've even seen videos of it! Funniest is when people scream nonstop over games like Halo and feel like smashing the TV.
I myself have gotten mad sometimes, but usually refrain from trying to break anything. One time when I was playing Sonic 3 in the Super Sonic part, I got so pissed that I punched a hole in the roof (oww). Another time I was playing Jak 2 and I dented my controller because I threw it across the room.
Funniest stories I've heard is from somehow who breaks everything they own. One time he was playing God of War, got angry, took the game out of the PS2 drive, and broke it in half. He even somehow broke his PSP in half, wtf.
Now...are you an angry gamer?

I rant and thow a sware in there from time to time usually only in Multiplayer matches where im getting spawn shot or such. iver never thrown a pad or broken anything while playing though. I think the worst case was just a cheap game over and over again killing me I had to scream in to a pillow in frustration lol XD

Sometimes I get so frustrated, I start screaming nonsense and curse the creators of the game to the point where I start crying. Then my parents look at me like I'm crazy...

I was ranting on my own the other day on COD:World at war on the single player because I kept dying. I was blaming allsorts from how I thought grenades were appearing at my feet to re-spawning bad guys. It drove me crazy. I never brake anything though.
Generally not, but the shoot outs on Uncharted have been making me yell quite abit recently...

What the ...? YOU? NOT an angry gamer? I laugh at you thinking that, seriously, man. All you do is ranting how bad and shitty the games are you don't like. That is a form of anger, y'know.
As for me... I dunno where I would put myself in. If I'm getting beaten by some randomness or insanely cheap AI, then I normally yell "WHAT?! What the fuck wassat?!", but if I lose because I'm bad, I can shrug it off.
I consider myself an angry gamer. Mainly if:
- I die too mush on a easy part of Mirror's Edge;
- see the slowness of the Werehog,
- if I fail a headshot in FPS games. XD
- If the game has pure glitches that piss you off;
- if the game is pure fail. (E.g, Shadow (or Emo-Sonic) The Hedgehog)
- If I get a stupid death. (e.g, Megaman 2 and 9. >_<)
- If the game's stupidly hard (e.g, Megaman 9 again. XD)

See if a game is hard for the right reasons I don't get angry, when playing Megaman or R-Type I don't get angry when I die, because I know it's more a lack of skill.

Usually what ticks me off are insane difficulty, cheap AI or glitches and most of all people distracting me during my gameplay sessions. Worst thing I've gone while angry with a game was destroy a plastic trash bin with a kick.

It's not at the point of a certain nerd but I can be pretty raging for a missed turn or AN AS@#OLE TAXI COMING OUT AT OVER 200 MPH.
I get pissed off playing counter strike: source when a team member isn't pulling their fecking weight by either pissing about or camping in an area out-side the action zone! I also shout and swear when playing racing games and I crash the car because some fecker online rams me in forza 2! Hell, even the ruddy AI rams me!XD

I played some more of Sonic 06 last night. Damn it makes me angry. It really doesn't bother me if I die on a game and I can see where I went wrong but it drives me bonkers when your dying and you know it's down to the developers laziness.
I am, I curse at the TV and throw controllers on the ground when I get game overs or can't beat a boss because I don't know how to attack him.
...I told you Unleashed was going to be a pain. XD
Oh yeah, forgot one other reason. If I get killed by a glitch, I usually throw the controller and yell out loud. Yes, Unleashed and SADX were both glitchy. >_<
i totaly agree with richarddavies.
There are many games that Character. Dying without getting to know "WHY THE HECK?" =o)
Maybe thats why i like Roleplaying Games.... the only "why" is "the man/woman behind the Controller".. =O)

I often get annoyed with games, generally when being beaten by someone else in multiplayer, but one incident springs to mind most prominently. I was playing Tony Hawks 2 on a cold winters day back in the era of the PS1 with a few mates, we were trying to beat some high score but no matter how hard we tried it wasn't happening, whether too much weed had been smoked or we were just all shite and couldn't admit it is hard to say, but after while something snapped. I calmly ripped the controller out of the console and gunned it through the window into the graveyard behind my house. Or so I thought. Everyone in the room was thinking I'd gone mad, they were probably right.
Anyway, about 6 years later some beardy gardener from the council, who was cutting the hedges down to make the grave a bit more presentable or something, obligied our topiary with a long overdue trim, and after a while he noticed some grey thing sticking out of the branches. Moments later the very same controller rage thought it had disposed of was being thrown back over the garden and at me! Took it back into the house, dragged out the PS1 and it miraculously still worked. Kept it ever since.

^ Ha. They don't make em like they used to.
I am a very, very angry gamer.
The moment lag, a glitch, stupid camera or control set up or basically anything that isn't my fault kills me, I get pissed.
Hence why I rarely play online or play the Wii.

Oh my, just thought of another two to add to Killer 7.
Sonic Spinball on the MegaDrive.
Sonic 2 on the GameGear, well the first boss anyway. You know the one, bouncey balls and pincers at the bottom. The amount of times my mum threatened to take, 'that silly thing' off me if I, 'didn't behave' was crazy.

SUPER MONKEY BALL!
I couldn't pass a level on the game cube version and I resulted in throwing my controller on the ground, I broke the screw in the left handle, so now I can open up and look inside my GC controller whenever I want.

this remembered me about what happened yesterday while playing Gears of War live, this guy appeared and started to shout "noob" "gay" and other kind of offensive language to it's enemies and teammates, I told him that everyone is a noob at some point, and that there is no need to disrespect people like that, he raged and started cursing and saying I was a 55 year old man living at their parent's basement, what the heck, stop projecting your reality in me you friggin nerd!.
I am not an angry gamer, but that idiot sure was

Haha, Super Monkey Ball drove me crazy too. It's a fun and simple game, but can be quite difficult sometimes!

I'm sorta an angry gamer, but not to the point where I get physical. It's usually racing and strategy games, like Mario Kart (150cc cups and Mirror), Need For Speed series, GTA 4 (can't be pissed cause I beat it...), and a ton of others. Super Monkey Ball 2 got me pissed at some points, too.
If you want to see really angry gamers, just search up "Ventrilo Harassment" on YouTube. One video had, like, a 7-year-old constantly screaming into the mic because some WoW player killed him. Also, just about every Counter-Strike player is an angry gamer ('cept for me :P).

That's why I don't play with a mic over XBL.

actually that's why I started to play with mic only in private games :P

Not at all. I´m very pacifist playing videogames. =P
If something cheap has happened during the gameplay (see reasons of the mayority) I get easily frustated, but not at the point I say something... irrelevant. XD

If I die on a game and it's blatantly the games fault I just start ranting like a mad man even though there's no-one else in the room to hear it. It's one of the few things that does drive me crazy.

So a tiny bit of my PS3 controller had to be snapped off on saturday, the ring bit under the right analog stick had broke at a tiny bit and was sticking up and was quite a pain when I was trying to play Oblivion. That was also the day I got Street Fighter IV...
I can get pretty angry for a small person, it usually involves me getting very frustrated and throwing something but that doesn't happen often. 10 years ago I kicked a door and a pane of glass on it shattered. Daddy was not happy with me :P
Really now? What had annoyed you to make you go and do that?
I think I was told I wasn't allowed to play.
A new reason I'm an angry gamer has entered the ring! =O
When I lose to Zangief, I grab a 7up and I slam doors. And I become a hot-head. XD

I haven't been playin' games too much lately and have been pretty calm, but then I picked up smash bros and started playin' it again. It's a fun game when you aren't getting beat to shit by the cpu. I was doing fine as mario in single player mode and had all my lives when I encountered the hand boss, but then I accidentally hit the combination to cause a reset. Man son of a bitch was I mad. Then I go looking for something to break, but then realize I don't want to do that. I think I need a stress ball for games like these.

I try not to play certain games when I have company. My friends over LIVE know how angry I can get at certain games, and have head to take their headsets off due to me shouting (read: screaming) profanities, threats, sarky comments, and generally just offensive stuff at my TV.
DOA 4 and Xtreme 2 are my prime sources of RAGE!™, although I've been known to get pissed off with pretty much anything if I'm doing badly enough. I think Hexic is the only game I can play and not get stress, and hopefully Eternal Sonata if I get it, 'cos the demo sent me into a calmed trance.
sonicfanRICH
27-04-2009, 08:23
^^ Yeah, I like games like Katamari where there's no reason to get mad at all and you just enjoy it. But I understand your rage at DOA because I hate it when the cpu fights back and makes me lose.
mudokon100
27-04-2009, 11:06
It's not so much that it fights back - usually i can handle that. It's when it completely ignores the Janken System it's based on (block>standard>throw>block). Seriously. Defeating Alpha-152 by anything other than sheer luck means you are some sort of god.
Unfortunately for me, Kasumi is too cute to not play a game she's in. DOAX2 is the only exception, as they managed to mess her up, but I play that one for Christie. Any game who has such a BRITISH british character has to be played. For example, when you go to play poker, each girl will have some sort of greeting. Christie says "Time to earn some Quid". It's classic.

Well, I haven't played the newer DOA games on the 360, but I was playing DOA2 Ultimate and trying to rack up 50 wins on survival to unlock extra stuff like costumes, but the cpu started to screw me over when I got close to my goal, which made me highly upset...

I get angry at games where you need to find something in a level to let you be able to save your data at the end.
sonicfanRICH
28-04-2009, 08:32
^^ Oh god, I know exactly what you mean! So many games expect you to dedicate enough time to be able to reach a save point like in RPGs and such. At least they have save points. In older games like mario and sonic, you have to be skilled enough not to lose all your lives. The only way for me to complete those kinds of games is to either make enough time or use a level select cheat.
