What's your basic controller? Is it the original NA or EU? one(mark I?), the Original Japanese pad (mark II)?, the 3D controller or the Virtua Stick, or some other pad?
Do you use certain pads for certain games?
Personally, I've found that I use the American version of the Mark II for fighting games rather than the Virtua stick. For games where I'd assume you'd usually use the 3D pad, Sonic R and NiGHTS, I use the Virtua Stick. I thought I would try it to see if it would make it harder, but I found myself liking it more, but I may be a minority in this. I never really find myself using the 3D pad, but that's me, I don't have anything against it, I just like the other ones a tad bit more.
I have only ever used the Japanese controller as I have never used an American or PAL saturn before. It is a good pad, especialy for KOF '96.

You might be interested in my blog article (http://mysegacollection.blogspot.com/2009/02/saturn-conrtoller-roundup.html), where I give a little piece on each controller :)
3D pad in driving games, for me. Then Mark II (JPN original) as my favourite controller of all time.

That was you? Nice
My basic controller is Mark II probably just because Its easiest to maneuver and move when not in use. I usually feel like I should only use the 3D for special times. (I do like the triggers though.) I usually end up using the other two I have, though Saturn I thought my game in Bomberman wasn't as good when using the Virtua Stick.
I only ever used the pad I got with my Saturn, which I believe was this one (http://www.axess.com/twilight/console/detail/saturn_a.jpg).
I liked it, it was a comfortable pad. Nothing too special, but comfortable.

I just love Saturn controllers, for they have a quality approach unlike any other retro system. All of the controllers (bar the Model 1 Saturn Controller in the US/U.K.) seem to have a sturdiness of unfathomable quality. It's very true indeed, and the 3D Pad and Model 2 Pad show those qualities easily.
In the end, both the 3D Pad and the Model 2 Pad are equal and specialized in what they do well. While the 3D Pad has a very sensitive analog pad to bring out the magical control of such games NiGHTs, Sega Rally, Burning Rangers, and etc., the Model 2 Pad works wonders with fighting games, shumps, and all of the "hardcore" games. I enjoy using the 3D Pad more than the standard N64 controller, as the design and ergonomics are just so much better. Also, the Saturn equivalent retains the general quality of the button scheme used on the Model 2 Pad, while still having great analog functions.
Both pads, overall, are amazing. I dare say that they are the best pads of ny kind on a retro game system. Both of them are virtually perfect. And, please, forget that US one, it's horrific.

Question! Does anyone know if this gun works with the Sega Saturn or not? I can't find any info on it and don't know where it goes to. I thought I'd post about it here since this is talk about Saturn controllers.

That gun is an absolute mystery to me, the USB connector suggests you might be best off plugging it in your PC and seeing if it works.

The connector looks weird. Like a mix between a usb and a phone line connection with the little clip on top there. I would assume uou're missing something there maybe.
I think it looks like an ethernet connector, which is very unusual. I would plug it into my router just to see what happens!XD

It does seem like I'm missing something for it probably, which sucks. I tried connecting it to my computer and it barely fit. It seemed to do nothing though as there was no sign the computer recognized it.

Since it's third party, there must be an extra lead that fits into the Saturn and the gun.

GAH! Second time typing something up, I hate my laptop XP
Well, this is creepy o.o First topic I check has someone asking about an obscure light gun I happen to still have from way back. XP Awsome.
That end actually plugs into two different ends: one for the playstation, one for the saturn. Purchased this thing when I finally lost my patience attempting to play my free copy of Virtua Cop. Rather, my parents purchased it for my brother and I :p When I got my playstation it came in handy for one of my all time favorite arcade shooters, Area 51. I was a kid, and hadn't played better light-gunners, so don't judge my taste in games based on that, please? :p
Anyway, it's light, works great, and has the added benefit of resembling a fazer(don't hurt me if I spelt that wrong) from Star Trek :3
As far as my favorite controller for the Saturn I'd have to say the pad it came with, seeing as how I played Street Fighter non-stop with that thing. Even when I got Street Fighter Alpha 3 for the Playstation I sought out an adaptor that would allow me to use it on that console :D
Had the 3D, came with my copy of NiGHTS, which is the only game I think I used it for c_c Might have with Sonic R, but I can't remember. Oh, well.
I really wanted the twin sticks for Virtual On after playing Virtual On 2 in the arcade. It made the game feel so much more intense, and made me want to play it for the rest of forever. Sadly, it was only an hour, maybe less, had to leave because it was time for my friend's parents to take us home ;_; I had never made it back to Gameworks (Seattle) after that, so.......i'm going to go cry balled up in the corner now, excuse me.
I apologize for my bad grammar, my horrid spelling. I'd correct it, but no. :p
Also, anyone here get the Saturn pads for the PS2? I purchased two after I had already obtained several Street Fighter 15th anniversary controllers. I was on the fence about it, but the SF15 controllers were too bulky. They also had a glossy surface, so when your hands became sweaty...yeah. Not really great when you're trying to hit a lot of buttons, or when you're not looking to get blisters. The Saturn controllers cleared that problem up immediatly >:P

Virtua Stick is very good, gives you a good feeling like the arcades

I didn't have the Saturn PS2 controllers but do have a Street Fighter Anniversary one. Whole heartedly agree with your complaint about them being too glossy and another flaw I found was that if you use them too much you rub the paint off the buttons! I suppose I'll not forget where X, Triangle or Circle is anytime soon but it don't half look scruffy.
Saying that, I always lazily reach for it when I want to play a fighting game and can't be arsed to use a proper arcade stick. Which is quite often.

Wow, awesome. So do you actually need something else to be plugged into the saturn console in order to use the gun? I did not know it could also be used for the playstation.

Yeah, it appears I wasn't clear on that. The gun came with two controller adaptors: one for saturn, one for PS. You would plug the "ethernet" end into the adaptor, which was nothing more than a controller end. Then just plug in like any other ol' controller :D
Good luck finding the ends :p
Since I started really playing Street Fighter on the consoles I never really got used to the arcade stick, so even when given the choice I still stick to my gamepads XD

Virtua Stick is very good, gives you a good feeling like the arcadesI just got my very own Virtua Stick. And, suffice to say, I am already satisfied immensely by said item.
It has a rather much arcade feel, being a perfect arcade translation of the classic joystick set-up; the turbo functions are superb (If you notice, the turbo toggles are set up in a fashion to resemble a fist. Oh Sega). I already am a qualified Tommy player on Last Bronx (against most people, and not the usual stay-up-until-you-memorize-every-freaking-special-move crowd), but the stick has really helped.
Get the Virtua Stick, it really helps with fighters. :decide:

I think the Virtua Stick is the best! That applies to all consoles too! I just recently brought a Wii Arcade Stick from Hori to play Street Fighter II with it on the virtua console! Works well and worth it!
I've never really got on with arcade sticks for some reason. I always seem to play better with a D-Pad.

It isn't just the stick being better than the D-pad, that aspect can come down to personal preference, but having six easy to reach buttons, allowing you can call on moves a lot faster, makes games like Street Fighter so much easier.
But yeah, pads are still good and comfortable to use for most cases.

I've never gotten used to using sticks for fighting games, personally, I prefer d-pads.

I switch between the ascii stick and the virtua stick
on most games. Tomb Raider vs Myst or "D" for example.
I like the steering wheel for Virtua racing and the other racing game,(not Andretti, the other one, I don't like Andretti)
I use the 3d pad for Sonic 3D, Sonic R and Nights,
the flight stick for Solar Eclipse and Wing Arms, and the light gun for Virtua cop 2, and a couple of others.I like them all!
Oh, and the Virtua stick for Pebble Beach Golf Links.
That game is SO fun with that controller.
I have 3 or 4 different pads, and never use them.

Those pc sega saturn controllers were made for the sega saturn games that were release for the pc which I should get one since I got ManX TT Super. Last Bronx, and Sonic R for the pc. Well the 3D controller is my favorite and its model is similar to the Dremcast model controller which is where they got the idea for the Dreamcast controller.

lol cool
Personally, I like the standard controller (second one in us), its just the one I always have closest to use, and I like its style, though I'd like to get first style (US), mostly for collection purpose.
I always feel like using the 3D controller should be like a special occasion. lol
