Hopefully, you know of the video game producer Valve: the creators of classics, such as the Half-Life series, Portal, Team Fortress series, etc. With many to choose from, What's your favorite Valve game(s)? I also decided to expand it to STEAM, the gaming application that manages your STEAM-compatible games.

My favorite Valve game(s) are Half-Life 2 and Counter Strike: Source. Half-Life 2 is just, simply put, amazing - the graphics, AI, features - all great, and CSS is probably one of my favorite MMOFPS despite the fact that I'm total n00b at it.

Although I don't have it, Gmod 10 is awesome.

I like almost al the games made by valve themselves, such as half-life seres, counter-strike: source and portal. The half-life games just have that something special that other FPS games just don't have.

Seeing as Half-Life 2 is the only Steam game I own on PC, I'll have to say I own that. I do have The Orange Box on 360 though, and that is ace. Team Fortress 2 rocks.

Yea it's hard to say which Valve game I love most, but I guess if I had to say one... hmm the original Half-Life would probably be the one, even with the terrible end game section.

It's also hard to say a favourite Steam game what with there being so many, like Second Sight or Beyond Good & Evil. I'd go with Painkiller though cause it's just so awesome. :3

Do you use your PC for gaming? If you do then you should totally get Steam.

I'd rather take a university degree in self harm than use steam.

I own two valve games, Portal & Left 4 Dead. As much as I hate Valve, Left 4 Dead is still a work of genius.

That's cause you're a console gamer and don't see how great it is, and how little choice you've got when looking for a good digital distributor.

I don't want digital distribution  its the death of the games industry. How am I supposed to collect or display EXE or ISO files? How am I supposed to trade them in? Lend them to friends? More to the point, why the hell pay for it when I can get it free? o_O or far cheaper on disc?!

Uh, what wacky... oh Xbox Live.

Steam is generally cheaper and easier than finding a disc version. Lending to friends? Eh I'll give you that, though you could just give them your Steam account details, all games are linked to your account not computer. Collecting isn't important in the least.

Oh trading in? So about the death of the games industry. DD is helping the games industry by offering cheaper and easier alternatives to going to the shop.

Yeah, Xbox Live XD nuff said there.

I would argue that point, I could find Beyond Good and Evil, Second Sight or Half Life on PC blindfolded, probably for about £2. Not only that but I'd then have a solid CD backup, that's comforting.

A lot of people still have slow internet connections, a 4GB file would take all day, more than a day..

Are you kidding? Just give them your account details? No thank you :P no matter how much I trusted a friend, I would still be slow to just give them my account details.

Collecting is very important to many people :3

Trading in gives no profit to the developer but it encourages impulse buys. Would you buy Halo Wars at £40? Nah but if I trade this in then I will buy it...and it also gets people to try games they normally wouldn't. Its nowhere near as bad as piracy which is rather dominant in the PC industry, ne?

Its not cheaper, I can get the games cheaper elsewhere. For some people its not faster. And you forget about Hard Drive space, having to clear space and re-download titles later is a royal pain.

I've only ever played one so it's Portal by default, though I do happen to think it's one of the most brilliant games ever
