View Full Version : Alternate House of the Dead 3
Another thread inspired by something I saw on Unseen64, this one has a couple of images from an early beta of House of the Dead 3, created in 2003.
The actual article itself is in Italian, so if somebody could translate it without using Google or Babelfish that'd be awesome, but I suppose the main drawing points are the screenshots, which show that HotD3 was originally going to be cel-shaded.
Needless to say, it doesn't really suit the game at all, but we'll see what you think of it. Here's the link:

That looks really swish actually, wouldn't mind seeing that style used in a light gun shooter on the Wii.

I quite like that cel-shaded style; I'm not normally a fan of zombies and the like, but in that style it's pretty cool.

Looks like the perfect game for someone who thought Killer 7 needed simplifying.
Ironically I really like these!
Rather than try realistic zombies with grainy graphics they could have these really awesome looking cel shaded guys, as a lightgun shooter on Wii I think it would work very well :P not only that but you'd get a 13+ rating which means higher sales.

Um, I'd imagine it would still be quite to gorefest so would probably still get quite a high rating.
I remember seeing this years ago in a Xbox magazine and I thought it looked pretty cool, very SEGA style. It does kinda suck that it was changed but stillthe game we ended up with was still pretty good so i'm not really complaning.

I like the looks and wonder why it was scrapped.
I think it was either SEGA's QA not liking it or because of the HOTD fans not liking it.
They should probably give this another go, I'd say there's probably some appeal for this game nowadays. Since stylish violence seems to be the in thing.

It's pretty cool! But I think SEGA abandoned this idea because of it being too catoonish.
It'd be nice if they considered doing a cel-shaded HOTD again as a spin-off. Too bad those screens don't show what the gore would have looked like :P
