View Full Version : Games with goodies!
What are your opinions on them guys?
Are you the type to fork out an extra fiver for an Artbook and DVD? If a game comes with a free CD are you more likely to purchse? How about a shiny tin?
Or are you the type that wants THE game, cheap as chips, just the GAME! D: WHY OH WHY AM I FORCED TO PAY £40 FOR A CHEAPASS ACTION FIGURE?!?! I WANT THE GAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMME
...
Yeah, what are you? :)
Personally I get so hyped when I find action figures, posters or even the words 'Limited' and 'Edition' on my games, I wish I could find more :I Japan always gets the best stuff.

I used to buy special editions whenever possible but then I realised it was pointless seein as everytime im skint I just sell all my games anyway.
I do like some goodie's though like soundtracks ( like with castlevania:sotn, that had a good one).

It depends on what the game is and what extras it comes with to decide whether it's worth going for or not.

I think games with goodies rule (from a collectors pov), I got a complete Seaman game, with the bag of gummies (unedible by now I suppose)
gimme goodies!!!
It depends on the game and goodies like Kaito. If it's free like Persona 4's OST then that's good but if I have to pay extra the goodies had better be damn good! Like Street Fighter IV.
^ I was so unimpressed by the Street Fighter IV Collector's Edition for the price it was.
I'm the kind of person who'd just buy the game for the game, "limited" or "special" editions don't seem to be very limited or special, unless if has something very nifty in it, like a bullet memory stick. I never understood the whole collectors item thing anyway. Yes, it will be very rare and worth loads one day, but are you actually going to sell it at some point?

Ditto, £60 just for two crappy action figures and a DVD? I was dissapointed when I saw them, I mean they were like gashapon standard...but whatever floats your boat.
From a collector's point of view its more about owning them than anything else :O I mean....it varies, would I buy a Steel book edition of Narnia? Noooo..will I buy the Sega Mega Drive Collection Vinyl LP? Yeeees XD

Although I'm sure you mean the movie case all I can think of is the books made out of steel, I would totally buy that.

Well gee XD A post in a gaming thread would generally make me think I was referring to the game, I'll make it clearer next time though :P Steel books...finally an idea to get me into Dragon's Den!

Lol, I have the crazy collectors edition of The Tales of Beedle The Bard. Makes me a hypocrite but I didn't buy it, and it looks cool.

^ This.
Especially if it's an OST or art book.
Okay so to make things more interesting, I'd like you guys to post pictures of your favorite collectors editions from any generation :)

I wish I thought of Fallout 3 as a good example. Thinking about it Street Fighter IV wasn't all that. Fallout 3 was though, and the game was surprisingly good aswell. Farcry 2 had a decent collectors edish, which I only got cause it was on offer. Came in a cool box with a T-Shirt and map. Actually Oblivion for being the shit game it is had a decent collectors edition aswell, it came with a rad book that brought you up to speed on the current lore and it also came with an imperial septim.
That Oblivion Collector's Edition was rad  I wanted it so much but it was always always a full £50, whenever they were put in ebay it was with a torn map and no septim :(
I hate Farcry but must admit it had a pretty snazzy C.E

Ho ho I got Oblivion for like £20 brand new.
I own the Sonic Adventure 2 Collectors Edition which only came out in Japan, the CD case which the game is in is still sealed and has been for the past 6 years.

Oh, that looks very cool!
Collector's stuff is nice and all when you can afford it brand new. I tend to just go for the game itself, as long as it has a box and manual.

I think my Oblivion was supposed to be a collectors edition. Looks different to my mates copy anyway; it's one of those cardboard fold out boxes and has a DVD, which I only watched in the vain hope Sean Bean would make an appearance, where a load of american nerds are in London trying to hunt down the bald guy from Star Trek/The scary DS recruitment ads. Bean never did turn up. Don't recall finding a septim either.

I watched the DVD for the exact same reason.
But yea that does sound like the collectors edition, was it on 360?

Yeah it was. I could never get into the game much though. I chose some strange character and I couldn't figure out exactly what it wanted me to do to level up so I never felt any sense of progression. After being presented with a third indentical, hell-like dungeon full of imps the monotony became unbearable and I quit.
