Hey guys I was just thinking about something.. I've always used just normal composite cables for all of my game systems, including PS2 when I had one. I have a friend who told me that S-Video greatly improves the picture quality. I was just wondering what you guys thought of S-Video compared to composite. Is it worth it and does it really make that big of a difference? And if it does, how so?

S-video only makes a difference if your TV has a crap "comb-filter". If your TV is reacent and/or a decent brand s-video might not make a diffrence or look worse!:) I'd just stick with composite if your satisfied with the PQ you have.

Yeah I've got a Hd tv and s-video looks like arse on my screen now so all of my old consoles are barely playable on it.:(

Yeah uhm. My TV isn't HD. It's just a CRT TV by RCA.

^Then I think it should be improved. It's not a giant leap in picture quality or anything but it's slightly better. Anyone feel free to correct me if im wrong though. I could be getting my connections mixed up.

Yeah it was just something I was wondering. I've got a friend whos..well obsessive with video games. It's literally all he does. Period. And he was acting like S-Video is the best thing ever and anything other than S-Video sucks.. If you're not in HD anyway.
S-video shows very good picture quality. I have a HDTV and my saturn and dreamcast is connected with s-video and both look crisp and clear especially saturn! I remember when I bought DC back in 1998 I had purchased the VGA cable and plugged it in a monitor. That was the best visual solution! But still s-video is damn good that is why your friend is so happy ;)
