Hey guys, I just read this article from the Wall Street Journal (Yahoo! hotlinked it to their page) about the most hated font in the world: Comic Sans.
This is Comic Sans, if you didn't know that already.
Article: http://www.yahoo.com/s/1060285
Supposedly, their trying to propose a worldwide ban of the font. So, what are your views on this? Is Comic Sans the worst font in the world? If not, which font (or fonts) is (try to keep it to the stock fonts, like Arial, Verdana, Courier New, etc.)?
^^Woohoo for grammar, making sentences more complicated than they have to. XD

I don't really use it, but I don't think it's worth banning.
Comic makers need it, right? XD
I never understood the hate for it. Sure, it aint the prettiest in the bunch, and it is a bit overused, but hating it this much is just sad. Hate the idiots who use it instead.
Since I draw commics once in awhile, I have used it more than a few times. It works well in comics, but that's pretty much it.

Most hated font? I hate fonts that are totally unreadable like the really cursive ones.

If someone uses Comic Sans I automatically assume they're retarded.
I can't say I'm a huge fan of calligraphy fonts. Does Wingdings count as a font or is that considered more of a code?
God I hate Comic Sans so much!! No wait, it's just a font, I couldn't give a toss about it.
I feel bad that I actually bothered to read that artical.
I agree that comic sans is tacky and over-used but I wouldn't ban it. Personaly my favourite font is Lee, which was used for the VHS logo.:P

I think it's a font... somehow.
I personally don't care as long it's readable *curses the fancy joined up stuff*
Wingdings should be banned then, there just seems to be no point to it.

I always wondered why it was created.

Perhaps it's designed for some kind of private code communication? Convert the symbols then crack the code that the text is written in?
But at the main debate I see nothing wrong with Comic Sans: It's ideal for younger kids when they first learn to type as it's clear and simple and it's okay as long as it isn't used too much.
My personal favourite font is Century Gothic.

It seems alright now I try it for size. Dunno what all the fuss is about.

I don't use it often if not never. I wouldn't consider banning it, but I wouldn't mind a renovation.
Wingdings would be my choice for a worldwide ban, yet I think everyone knows it's a crappy font and don't use it for the benefits of others. If you give someone a message written in the font, they'll just look at you with the "Wtf why?" look.

Wingdings is a symbolic font. Without it you wouldn't be able to print certain symbols. It's not widely used for typing with as there are no letter or number characters in there. This could be where Microsoft Word gets its bullet point symbols from etc.
Talking of fonts, have you seen this?

Conspiracy theorists love it. I'm sure you've all seen the 9 11 thing? If you haven't, have a look online, it's laughable but still interesting.
I like Calibri. It's even clearer than comic sans, and less fancy than TNR. Besides arial, it's the most plain font that exists IMO. I can see why MS decided to set it as the default for Office 07.
