I liked the PS2 Shinobi for the controls, but have a natural inclination to like the Revenge of Shinobi more (plus that game had Yuzo Koshiro making the music).

Gotta say Shinobi III is by far my favorite, I love the graphics, the style and the music. They made the MD series a whole let better with this when they added loads of new actions, improved the gameplay a great deal. I still can't complete it though!
For me this is a tough one :P umm...
I love Shadow Dancer, it's the Shinobi game I always come back to and play, however Shiniobi III was by far the most impressive. Revenge of the Shinobi was one of my first MD games....guh, I simply can't choose :P
I'll say Shadow Dancer, just because no one else will :(

I love the shinobi's. Im not sure what to vote for though, I have such good memory's of a few of them. I played shinobi on the sms loads as a kid. I played it last weekend and died on the indian goddess boss wheres theres just a wall of them statues coming at you and you've gotta kill them all before it crushes you. Revenge of shinobi's the one that pops out to me on mega drive as it's one of the first games I had on the system. I didn't play 3 till years later. I love shadow dancer though. I still remember the bonus stage where your falling from the sky scraper trying to take out the ninja's on the way down. Classic stuff.

The Revenge of Shinobi. First Shinobi game I ever played and it was awesome at the time. The only thing I found annoying was the pier level with an insanely precise jump you had to make. Shinobi was a good series that I feel was overlooked.

Same here to me it's really tough to choose between Revenge of Shinobi and Shinobi III. But if I got to choose one it's got to be Shinobi III. Don't get me wrong I still loved Revenge of Shinobi.

I chose the revenge of shinobi simply because it's the only shinobi game I have ever played. My favorite thing about the game has to be the music. By the way, does anyone know what the copyright notice about spider-man at the start of the game is about?

They used Batman and spiderman as bosses on the jap version of the game. They changed it for the european versions so the look different but there are a few us and euro versions that have the original bosses in but there very rare copies.

The poll overlooks Nightshade and the Saturn game Shinobi X. The Saturn game is my favourite, has probably the best cut scenes in it since Command & Conquer and a cool soundtrack by Richard Jacques.

I thought they took Batman out for US and Europe, but left Spiderman in due to a licensing deal SEGA held at the time?
I like Shinobi 3 I never played it first time round I only played it years later on an emulator but when i did i loved it, however i do have a soft spot for Revenge of Shinobi because i remeber when i was young me and my mate would just play that for hours trying to beat the game.

I've played Nightshade before, but since it was more of a gaiden or side quest part of the series I decided to leave it in the other section. I've never personally heard of or played Shinobi X. Wish I could play it though.

It was called Shinobi Legions in America so that might be why it passed your notice; and from what people tell me, doesn't have the Richard Jaqcues music in either.
Can Outtrigger on the Dreamcast count as an honourable mention? :D

No?
Aw, that's unfortunate. I was gonna mention it anyway just to be random.
He might be a cool ninja, but he's not a very good shot. His aiming's terrible.

You were a Ninja in Outrigger? My memory must be getting worse. It has been a whle since I had it and didn't play it a lot before selling it, I just couldn't dig it.
Shinobi was an unlockable character. I think he was one of the last characters you unlocked, and was basically a reskin. He didn't do anything special or ninja-like.

That's pretty cool. Can't believe that little nugget of knowledge has passed me by for so long though. Wish I'd played the game a bit more now.
Well it's still fairly cheap on eBay, if you still have your Dreamcast lying around.

I LOVE Shinobi 3 for the Genesis. Great music, perfect control, excellent graphics....can't say enough good things about that cart.
