hi all...new member here! really impressed with the site, nice selection of tunes to bring bak all that nostalgia haha...
never really bothered with posting on boards etc, but i'm pretty passionate about videogames/history, and particularly fond of the early SEGA consoles that i grew up with (from the MS to MCD), so i thought i'd sign up and join in all the fun!
right well lol, my first post: Night Trap on the Mega-CD!
this was definately 1 of my fav games for the add-on that came out...yes i was lumbered with the not so successful machine after begging and begging for weeks (i saw the promo vid that came with some UK videogame magazine? and it looked awesome!), only to find games were then few and far between...bad times...from the promo vid, NT was definately one of the games that caught my eye...to me, with no experience of decent computers of the era (i.e amiga etc), i had no idea how grainy the video used in MCD games was in comparision...lol this was the 1st time id seen video used in a game in this way and 2 me it was spectacular! haha
the game itself was just pure b-movie trash, but it's so bad, it's actually really funny and i found myself just wrapped up in the cheesyness of it all (lol i always remember the line "hi eddie, bye eddie, ohhhhh and let us know wen u wanna die eddie"...haha man wat a script)...
i'm curious how others on the board rate this title?...from articles, interviews etc over the years (lol it crops up more often than not in regard to the whole game classification controversy), i've noticed it seems to be a bit of a love / hate relationship! with some of the haters even giving it 'the worst game ever' crown!
i personally loved the game, and it was up there with final fight cd on the top of my favs for the system...looking bak from today's perspective, i'd even go as far as saying that NT (and perhaps some of the other video related titles? - never played them tho i hear GZT is pretty good?) was ahead of it's time, in the way in which it attempted to deliver a cinematic style experience in a videogame! sure the medium was never going 2 work but the idea was there, and look at today's games (i need only mention MGS5!)...
while NT (and perhaps some of the others), were originally developed for another system, i thank it's inclusion in the MCD library, where it provided a unique experience that i'm sure many gamers up until that point had simply not encountered b4 :)
*lol and can any1 remember the UK magazine that had the free MCD promo vid i mentioned earlier? megatech/cvg perhaps? it's going bak a while!
