I like sonic adventure 2

Difficult one - I like Sonic Adventure because you could play as just Sonic, unfortunately the town sections are a little annoying (but no where near as bad as on Sonic the Hedgehog Next Gen) and I liked Sonic Adventure 2 because it was just action stage after action stage, but you had to play as three characters per story (although at least it was in seperate action stages, unlike the 'let's change the characters half way through the stage' rubbish in Sonic the Hedgehog Next Gen).
If I was pushed, I would probably say Sonic Adventure. I think the action stages were slightly better. Not much in it though.
(Oh, and in case you were in any doubt, both are much better than Sonic the Hedgehog Next Gen!)

I like both and if pushed, I would probably play both of them at the same time. Though that's almost impossible...
And yes, Sonic Next-Gen makes these games look like Shakespeare.

Sonic Adventure 1, because at the time it was ace, it's aged real bad though, and it's pretty crap by todays standards. Infact all the 3D Sonic games are ass... SA1 and SA2 were the best attempts before Heroes made baby Jesus cry.
SA2 loses lots of points because of Shadow, I wish he'd GTF.

So I assume Shadow the Hedgehog gets minus 1,000,000 points then?

Big the Cat wasn't a playable character in Sonic Adventure 2... (in fact, nor was Amy)

Surely you can expand on your opinion Miles, such as the gameplay, graphics and what you thought on the story. :)

Sonic Adventure 2 wins it for me.
Adventure was nice but I didn't like the Adventure stages as there was nothing in them (at least in next gen the town stages had missions to do and medals to find).
Also Adventure 2 simply gave you more. 180 emblems to SA1's 130. Unlockables and a decent 2 player mode, expanded on Chao, each level had 5 missions instead of 3, etc.
The levels were also more fairly spaced out. Sonic had 6, Shadow had 4, the rest had 5 each. Compared to the first where Sonic had 10, Amy had 3, Big had 4 and the rest had 5. Also each level was unique, none was shared.
I like Sonic Adventure 2 I ready do
Want to expand upon that a bit Yuri?

Definatly Sonic Adventure 1, the second ones a good game but they really messed up the camera and I miss the over world. I prefer the music in 1 as well.
I've got Sonic Adventure DX for the PC and i liked it then i played Sonic Adventure 2: Battle on the Gamecube from my cousin and i also liked it so i liked both really!!

i heard that the green hill zone was an unlockable in, i think, SA2^_^

Hard choice, probably the second one. Not sure why though, I like them pretty much equal.
Definitly SA1. That felt like sonic back then, and was an actual Adventure. SA2 had nothing really to do with sonic. It was more focused of Shadow! Plus it gave us Shadow the hedgehog!
Sonic 2 for me. I hated the free-roaming bits of the first one because of the poor handling. I found it quite confusing where I should be going too. ::)

The camera and handling in SA 2 totally put me off from the start, felt that SA 1 was a classic though.

So very true. I always loved the adventure stages, and I WAS excited about their return in SONIC The Hedgehog....
So much for that.
The best part of SA2 was the GHZ remake, and I had to unlock it legitimately...:(
sonic adventure 1 all the way for me my 1st dreamcast game on launch day the nights pinball table did it for me and the killer whale chase happy days!

The Nights table was a definate highlight in Sonic Adventure. However, the bit when you were flying around outside in Nightopia - that was just cruel showing how good a Dreamcast Nights game would be without actually giving us one!
Hopefully all will be well in the Wii version!

Both were great, I think I liked the first a bit more, but Sonic Adventure 2 may be the superior game...

I prefer the Chao Garden in SA2, so I'll go with that, but I liked the free roaming in SA.
I just wish Tails wasn't in a machine. :(

sonic adventure at the time was a great game for its time, but looking back on it 3-D sonic games have, and never will work. They should have had some sort of world that you do levels in rather than pointlessly running around to level branched.
Basically you can't push a 3-D games with 2-D limitations, going in a straight line was fine on a genesis because thats the only way you could go, but it just felt linear to me on a 3 dimensional scale.

I was so obsessed with that Nights table that I thought if you collected all the orbs in the center it would unlock a minigame, but unfortunately that wasn't the case...:(

Yeah, that was kinda annoying. They keep trying to make Tails more the opposite of Robotnik or Eggman, whatever. Not sure why Robotnik calls himself Eggman now, he's an idiot. I think the first time he was called that was by Sonic in Sonic Adventure.

Sonic Adventure 1 because of the adventure fields and having to do things to go into levels.
I updated the title and added a poll to this thread. Much easier to keep track of the overall opinion through the poll.
I voted Sonic Adventure 2... I wish they would release it for PC.
I probably voted Sonic Adventure 2 because of the memories I associate with it. I went into a video game drought in my life for almost 3 years playing very little video games. I missed it very much but didn't have the money for any systems (had to sell them to have money for moving, rent, etc.).
One day I was at the mall and passed a "Game Stop" store with my boyfriend at the time. He saw me interested in the Game Cube systems just saw my face lit up at the thought of playing Sonic Adventure 2 for the first time. We walked out of the mall that day with a Game Cube and Sonic Adventure 2. It was very emotional to play that first level... It was Sonic. It was a level layed out like San Francisco. The lyrics said "gotta follow my rainbow"... San Francisco is still quite dear to me not only for being such a gay friendly city, but because its the US headquarters of Sega of America.
Anyway, thats why I voted Sonic Adventure 2.
Can't there be a "both" vote? Not sure I can pick either of them, if I had to choose one it would be the first.
1: Because I own at least 2 copies of it (PC & Dreamcast)
And:
2: Because of, as Mufas said about Sonic 2, memories.
Can't there be a "both" vote?
Nope. The question is which is better, not which did you like. If you don't think you can pick then don't vote. So reminds me of "Everybody Votes" on the Wii... LOL Besides, its no fun if everybody choose both--choosing a side makes you want to explain it. Both are still Sonic games at heart after all.

Oh you have some special Sonic Adventure (1) memories? Hopefully they are as fond as mine are of Sonic Adventure 2. ^_^

First Dreamcast game I owned and played, fell instantly in love with it. Also the first time I got to play Amy which I thought was good. Didn't even mind Big The Cat's story. It's Sonic, what can I say? ^_^

I prefer Sonic Adventure 2 due to Sonic's levels feeling like a real Sonic game. Oh and it has a better soundtrack.

I personally think the soundtracks are on par with each other. Gameplay I guess would come down to gamer preference. This would be more for memories or personal preference since both games are equally as good. And no, I'm not counting Big the Cat. -_-

Personally, I liked Sonic Adventure 1's gamesplay, like going through the city and some roaming. I perfered the Sonic Adventure 2 for the Chao stuff. I just liked 2's better in that area.

Sonic Adventure, for the soundtrack alone!
Also, while we're on the subject, Sonic Adventure was the best selling Dreamcast game of all time. :)
A tough qustion but I would have to go for SA1. It felt like a proper sequel to S3&K and it seemed to have that classic cool Sonic Team feel. SA2 is a great game however, Sonic's stages were a little better and it had a better soundtrack.

Honestly that is a hard one. I like both of the games.
I got Sonic Adventure on launch day with Ready 2 Rumble and spent hours on the Nights pinball table on SA1.

I found Sonic Adventure 2 more fun (Except Knuckles' and Rouge's levels xD lol)
They were both awesome games with some of the best video game soundtracks ever, but I think Sonic Adventure was much better. It had a slightly better story and it just felt really big and free, whereas Sonic Adventure 2 felt like you had to go one way and that was the only way, which it was.

This is tough one but if I'm gonna choose one it's got to be Sonic Adventure 2 because of Shadow the Hedgehog the coolest Sonic character ever. Don't get me wrong I love both titles but my favorite is SA2.

Personally, I'd have to choose SA2 because 1) It's the only one I've played (I plan on getting SA for DC off of Amazon soon), and 2) I liked the gameplay and it was fun. I played SA2:B back in 2001, but I never knew what the game was until I stumbled across it on the Internet....in 2007. I bought SA2:B off of Amazon ($20 USD + Factory Sealed = one happy me!) and played it nonstop, resurrecting my childhood.
So, to sum it all up, I choose SA2.
SA1 because, at the time all i cared about was how fast he was going, and it was always nice to see other characters trying to be fast(except big, of course)
I also felt the SA 2 was better then the first SA. I like the music and the levels in SA 2 better then the first SA.
Sonic Adventure 1 easily, because I like to play as Sonic in my Sonic games. Also Tails and Knuckles stages weren't boring as hell and you didn't have to do it again as two different characters.

For me, the first Sonic Adventure will always be better. I liked the levels more, the characters more, and the music more. I won't ever forget the first time I loaded up my Dreamcast with Sonic Adventure and played through the first stage with Sonic, it blew my mind.

Sonic Adventure. It was a buggy and frustrating but I loved it.
The sequel really suffered because of the Knuckles and Rouge levels. And it introduced Shadow, the worst character in anything ever.

Nah, the worst character in anything ever is that woman who has a face like a withered foot in Sex and the City.
(Well, i'm back since 2 months allmost of not being online...YAY!)
I have both versions of these games on the Gamecube, since i didn't had a Dreamcast, but...
I prefer Sonic Adventure for:
1. Funny Levels
2. Good story
3. Playing as a good Sonic like the 2D's (for me)
4. Hub Worlds
5. The emeralds losing their powers
6. Cool Soundtrack
I think this it's better than:
1. Same gameplay for two characters
3. Tails levels weren't...well, Tails levels.
4. Backstory to reveal another backstory in later games.
To tell the truth, Sonic Adventure 2 was a game that i really played on my friend's Dreamcast, and was my first Sonic Game, but...The adventure one it's better for me, it has the feel of Sonic that everyone's loves!!! Also, the Adventure 2 isn't bad, in fact it's cool, after all, this was the game that had the "cool shadow" (my bestest friends say the same, this game made Shadow a cool character, the later ones, made him the horrible thing that we know now...)
Anyway, it's my point of view, i hope that nobody gets offended by it

Yeah I enjoyed the Chaos story as well even if the voice acting was crap. And that soundtrack is just fantastic but above all it was backed up by great gameplay. I think Sonic Team hit the nail on the head with Sonic Adventure its just a shame they cant re-create that awesomeness with the new Sonic games coming out.

I'd have to say SA1. It was the first game I played on Dreamcast, and I was hooked.

I personally love both the adventures and to this day they are one of my all-time sonic favorites, but I would have to say the Adventure 2 is better for me, as it was like the first game I got on my Game cube, so Adventure didn't have that much of an appeal on me, but it was excellent. I just like adventure 2 better.

I was left a bit 'meh' after sonic adventure. For me sonic adventure 2 was where it was at. It oozed so much style and awesomenes. But the boss in the first game was kinda epic
Hard decision.
But SA2 is a bit more my favorit.
No Question both titles are freaking good.. =o)

They're both great in my opinion. They're both quite different. I have a lot of great memories of the first Sonic Adventure but nowadays I slightly prefer SA2. Although I think the ending to Sonic Adventure is way better than the ending to the second.
I prefer the second one all around. It could've done without the emerald hunting levels, as they disagreed with me, but other than that it was generally a fun game.

I think SA2 has more general replay value and SA1 just had something that I loved all along that I still can't really put my finger on. To me, they were the 3D platformers that still felt like Sega games. The new ones feel like rubber imposters.

I have to admit that sa1 got a lot, especially for sonic and tails' action stagees. Though, knuckles and big's ones are annoying for me.
Sa2 is the one I prefer, even if it's frustrating that you can't play with tails and knuckles in speed stages like sonic and shadow...
By the way, I've played sonic heroes recently, and I don't understand what happened in the mind of sonic team's folks. New (and a bit uggly) design, bad gameplay (the characters that you're not playing can't follow you correctly).
Thankfully, sonic the hedgehog, on ps3 seem to be better...
I don't even have to speak of this annoying game that is "shadow the hedgehog"
I'm playing sonic's games since I'm 5, (I'm 25 now), and I would expect a better evolution...
