I thought about this one after looking at the "Your recent Gaming Purchases!" thread (http://www.radiosega.net/forum/showthread.php?t=335).
The idea is to get everyone to post the 2 or 3 (or more) games they have been playing the most and keep on coming to this thread every once in a while (say, every week, month, whatever you think suits you). This way, we can all share our most recent gaming experiences and hopefully get other gamers to try new games.

Let me start, then. I've been playing the following the past few days:
Super Mario Galaxy (Wii) - Trying to get Luigi's final 5 stars to unlock it all.
Animal Crossing: Wild World (DS) - Just got addicted to this game again!
NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams (Wii) - The quest to get all A ranks continues...So, what have you all been playing recently?

I'm playing silly buggers with my girlfriend, trying to get webcams turned on :P

Nah, seriously, the last game I played was Final Fantasy XII on my PS3. Looks very rubbish up close.

Persona 3 (PS2) - Such a great game, I wonder why people even need next gen. Also release FES over here damnit I want my penis persona.

GOD HAND (PS2) - Another brilliant game by Clover. Funny beat-em-up action :D

Etrian Odyssey (DS) - Old school dungeon crawler win. Playing this while I wait for Atlus to announce the second game for an English release and also Rune Factory 2 come on Atlus do it.

I'm also playing Etrian Odyssey on my DS. I'm about to go beat Fenrir (but it's more like the other way around). I doubt that the second game will be released in english, but Atlus has proven me wrong in these cases many times.

Also playing Ys Eternal on PC, and Wild Arms 3 on my PS2.

:O thats where I am though I have yet to face Fenrir.

I was playing Ys Complete on PC, but I got stuck on the boss that transforms into like bats or something on Ys 1. ):

Hahahah! That's also where I am. I'm playing on the hardest difficulty. I'm lvl 10 with the Silver Sword, but I just can't beat him. I've played the first Ys on a few other platforms, and I must say that they pumped him up alot in the eternal version, making him imo the hardest boss in the game.

I'd play Ys 2 but, I can't find a working translation patch. I've beat it on the Saturn version, but I really don't want to play it again without translation.

Lately i have been playing Gunstar Heroes on the GBA, Rez/X360 and Sega Rally/X360. Sega Rally is a game i keep coming back too. Still haven't completed the game, but it's also nice to just sit down and play for a few minutes and burn off some steam:)

I'm trying on medium can't remember my level though XD Got that sword you get for faffing about with those trees.

I don't even know if the Ys 2 translation I have works since I don't want to play it till I complete Ys 1.

Edit: Also playing Ganbare Goemon 4 on my SNES emulator, yet another distraction from completing Terranigma which I totally plan on doing.

Conker Live and Reloaded (XBOX) - Oh man I wish this was on VC or if my N64 was still playable because this version is just rubbish. It breaks more than it fixes, apart for a few stuff to make things less annoying here and there it adds a rubbish melee system and totally replaces Conker's kick ass frying pan with a nailbat, it's even more censored than the N64 version, the fur effect is just ugly and I seem to have problem with the audio taking alittle longer to load oh and it also has horrible load times.

SuperMatt723
16-03-2008, 19:50
I traded that Game in. I always play Conker's Bad fur day though. I dont get it, they Take forever to make it and it comes out Really Bad.

16-03-2008, 20:01
I thought the xbox version was good although I have yet to play the N64 version. I am aware that the xbox version was heavealy censored but that was so large shop chains would stock it. As for the graphics, I personaly thought they showed what the xbox was capable of and the fur effect is good as it made the models look a lot less flat.

16-03-2008, 20:02
They also got rid of the freaking awesome multiplayer options for some Battlefield type thing, which is totally sweet but not nearly enough to sacrifice the original multiplayer options.
I'm glad they didn't fully uncensor it because that's part of whats funny, but they didn't need to censor it more.

I just finished Skies of Arcadia: Legends for the Gamecube. Great RPG with a good story and cast of characters. Every time I finish a good long RPG, I feel a little depressed and wish for a sequel... But now I'm playing Star Ocean: Till the end of Time. I'm liking the battles and graphics, but I'm not really attached to the story or characters.

Phoenix Wright is an awesome game and if you like the game so far, I have a feeling you'll love the 4th case. I'm currently playing the last case of Phoenix Wright 2 and, so far, the best case I played was the 4th case of Phoenix Wright 1.

When I played it for the dreamcast, I tried linking as many enemies as I could before each shot for maximum points. Getting most of the enemies is important too and that's where careful use of bombs comes in.

Going to be working on the WINE API layer tomorrow, if all goes well I should be playing Max Payne and Prince of Persia 3D. If not, Prince of Persia on my XBOX. I don't run Windows much anymore so most of my PC games need either hacks to work under a UNIX base or an API layer good enough to do it (Cedega & Cider come to mind).

We (me and Gavvie) finished Gears of War: Act 2 on Insane earlier.

We would get further if I had a more permanent means of getting my 360 online (got it connected to the laptop sharing its wireless but other people want to use the laptop) and Gavvie would stop playing crap games to fuel his achievements addiction.

Maybe Legendary on Halo 3 has toughened us up but GoWs Insane difficulty doesn't seem that hard.

Mass Effect - Doing some side quests before I get back into the main story. Just found out one of the party members is voiced by the same person who voices Carth in Knights of the Old Republic...never going to get the achievement for using the Human Sentinal for the majority of the game in my second run through.

I have Shadowman on DC as well. Always seemed to get stuck and never completed it. When I get myself a DC scart cable, and a space to put my DC (I have an idea where it can go), I intend to finish the games I never got around to doing. Namely Half-Life, Illbleed, Shadowman and JSR.

I heard about that. But I usually only bother with the ranks long after I end the games. Like this one. My purpose was to get all the Emeralds and reach the end. Months after that and after I've played other games, I started to come back to Rush and trying to get the S ranks just for the fun of it. :P

"no man get this, we remove the number and stick on European Version. They might think they're getting something special"

"No because we're gonna put fuck all new content in there for them"

It's quite a funny little RPG where you explore a town and have to fight witches and the rub them to find there "witch spot" XD. I tried the World Ends With You on the DS today, since I've heard alot of good things about it. To be honest, I really don't care about what Squenix does nowdays since they have to fill everything with Belts, zippers and Teen angst. But the curiosity got to me.

The graphical stuff was really cool (aside from the sprites that just looks wierd) with it's street fashion style. The music was pretty nice too and the voice acting was acceptable. The story and gameplay however... The main character was your standard super-emo teen boy with awesome powers who think the only thing this world needs is himself. And I didn't get the battle system at all. Couldn't keep track of what happened to both screens at the same time. Once I got to the part where you actually start to loose HP by being attacked, it took 2 battles for me to see the Game over screen.

Might give it another go later tonight, but at the moment I hate this shit.

Dr Shaneman
16-04-2008, 21:18
Well, I got to the first Witch fight on Doki Doki. All I had to do was strike her energy ball things back at her with a sword. Took me 2 game overs to figure out what I had to do though. I was tapping them and you had to swipe them :P. I am really rubbish at games as a hole so it's understandable. I never had to do anything else though in the fight but it is a good battle system I think. That was only the first boss so it's bound to not be the most exciting one in the game.

I plan on getting Endless Ocean someday. Indeed, that's the game where yous swim and explore. It's told to be very relaxing and enjoyable even if you're into more action packed games. And it has another upside: the price.

Half the time it's manageable, it's just the odd occasion when the camera gets stuck on some scenery. You can move it more often than not.

In addition to SMG, I'm also doing daily Wii Fitness Tests on Wii Sports, because I'm an idiot and I believe that doing them will actually make a difference :p Prior to today's test, I have a Wii Fitness Age of 28, which is 7 years older than me. I've started Phantasy Star Universe. It's been one of those games I just put aside while I played everything else. Enjoying it so far.

Also finishing off Sega Superstar Tennis and Condemned 2. Just need to get all AAA's on SST, as well as winning I think 7 player matches and the 5 doubles. Those Jet Set Radio stages are rock hard to get AAA on.

As for Condemned 2 I'm in the museum level on my third playthrough (hard). Once I finish hard I only have multiplayer achievements left.

Dammit, every time I start to get a grasp of the system in The World Ends With You, they throw in something new so I can get all confused again. Oh well, I keep playing it, so I guess it's a decent game, although it's starting to feel like a streetpunk version of Kingdom Hearts, which can sometimes make me sick. But it's ok and the battle system feels pretty unique. I'm at the 5th day.

Also picked up Rondo of Swords for my DS, which was a quite Interesting take on the classical turn based strategy genre. Unfortunatly the classes are pretty unbalanced with their supreme ultimate archers, so I'll probably stop playing this pretty soon.

And finally I gave Napple Tale for the DC a try. It has a very nice touch to it, with nice character design, fun level design and sweet music. It feels somewhat like a mix of Nights into Dreams and Pandemonium. VERY fairytale-ish.
Too bad there are loads of RPG-ish quests in the town to do, before you can get to any action levels. These has given me some problems since I don't know any moonspeak. But I'll hang in there.

I didn't advance much in the game, so I still can't talk about the plot. And yes, the game has a level of difficulty that leaves (very) little room for error. I would recommend it only if you are a Fire Emblem fan as the game can knock off a lot of your patience.

Turns out I didn't need to do any of that. It's a problem on Rockstar's end, and all I had to do was disable my internet connection so that they weren't logging my single player stats.

Of course, I found this out after I'd uninstalled my game data and deleted all saves. Ah well, nevermind, I've pretty much caught up with where I was pre-deletion.

I was just playing Sonic CD again. Good times and classic fun. Surprisingly, I found it easier than I remember, which is good because I like easy :P I also find that the "Past" music is better than all the rest to me. I also like how easy it is to beat Robotnik and yet somehow he manages to outrun Sonic XD. The best part is when Robotnik and Metal Sonic work together and when you win the race, Metal Sonic gets killed by Robotnik lol. What's even worse, in order to complete the level, I had to let Amy hug me...

Edit: Eh, gave up after the first gameover in Metallic Madness.

I also played some Sonic the Fighters and that is very fun too. It was funny when I was fighting Amy, hehe. I did a move that stole her hammer and beat her with it. It was also comical when I was fighting Espio and pulled his tongue and Bean where I stuffed a bomb in his mouth. Funny game. Metal Sonic was tough though.

Personally, I like it. I mean, it's too short, I think and some small details can make you feel like they could have done much better, but it's a pretty good game overall, especially if you're one of those fans who waited years for a sequel.

NiGHTS for the Wii is a good game, but it doesn't quite live up to the original. Nevertheless it's a good game with a good level design. The major problem I find is that they tried to cramp up too many different "missions" in a short game. It would be better if they added a "50 missions" unlockable after the game instead of varing the action so much. Overall, it's one of my favourite games on the Wii.

Finished Ratchet & Clank 2 (awesome fun game) and finished Jak 3 (fun story and plenty of challenges). Also been playing a couple of DS games like Guilty Gear: Dusk Strikers, Metroid Prime Pinball, Geometry Wars: Galaxies, and Worms 2: Open Warfare (all fun games on the go).

I also tried playing Sonic the Hedgehog Genesis on the GBA and boy is it sucky. It's nice to have, but the sound is weird and it goes half the speed it should go. It's like playing a slow-mo Sonic... where every trap and enemy is perfectly placed to be right in your way! For some reason Robotnik is pretty easy to defeat though if you reach him. I basically gave up on it, however.

It is pretty tricky, I found myself having to run more than fight on a few occasions...I've no clue how long the game is, I'd imagine I'm not very far, something like 8 hours of play time

I haven't played much only because I simply don't have the time anymore. Played PSO to death in it's day thought. Play the PS2 version in offline mode. I think the game is worth the money and time I have spent on it. Personally I liked PSU: AOI better then the first one so far. So I would recommend it!

Have downloaded the Xbox360 expansion and tested it a little bit. If you are a fan of the game it's worth every penny. It was just like PSO II was released. Very similar to the first one but still worth the money and time spent on it!:)

PIKA! Pikachu is awesome, he's fast, his lightning attack is strong and when people are floating above you do a lightning strike while they're near the top of the screen and it's bye bye! But the downside is with stages with platforms above Pikachu the lightning will hit the platform above. Although i've learnt how to fight with Pikachu now, it all depends on who you get on with, I can't get on with Link in any Smash Bros. game.

I currently playing through Tim Schafer's utterly magnificent Psychonauts on XBox. There're more ideas in this game than in every 3-D platformer ever made. I never thought I'd be helping Fred Bonaparte defeat his rather more famous ancestor Napoleon at Risk, but thanks to Psychonauts I have. :)

I've also just grabbed DOSBox off the net in order to run my original copy of X-Wing from 1992. Dusted off the Predator (hasn't been used since I played through X-Wing: Alliance about 2 years ago) and been shooting down TIE Fighters by the hundred. Great fun.

What else? Oh yeah, had a spare five minutes to zoom through Outrun 2006. (I wish Sega would port Afterburner: Climax) Good excuse to listen to Richard Jacques Euro Remixes.

But if anyone else is around Micro Machines 2 is the first game out and endless scraps on Turbo Turns ensue.

I found Gaiden II a little boring ^^" your health regenerates, you take less damage with each hit and save points heal you, its so much easier than Sigma is, comparing the easy modes anyway

Easy on Sigma is like Normal on Gaiden II it can be really brutal
