As you may of noticed the stream has been off for almost 2 days now, this is because there's no credit left to keep it online.

RadioSEGA's stream currently costs £18 per month to run, all the money donated in the past has run out and I can no longer afford to personally fund the site fully - donations and your support is required to help RadioSEGA continue on, I'm covering the cost of the web server myself, as I have a few sites hosted on it.

http://www.radiosega.net/donate10.gif (https://www.paypal.com/uk/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_flow&SESSION=NXGL8hJR0BU-xs3r-ho42gD7DKhK2XerLRuYsOw17bQC5uVZ_WPmwXzHQuK&dispatch=5885d80a13c0db1f1ff80d546411d7f823b5265b6 559fc2aff98b84ed0c357f8)If you would like to send a donation please click here (https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=3501122)

I'll be able to top up the account with all donations and it should last a while again

I have thought about adding adverts to the forums and site, but I've found they didn't work in the past, but may trial them again.

Would you prefer an ad-free RadioSEGA supported by users, or RadioSEGA funded by advertising?

Thanks for your support.

Really sorry to here this mark. I can't really afford much but if I could donate anything how do you actually go about it? I've never used paypal before.

Actually just clicked on donation on the home page, looks pretty straightforward.

I've just added the buttons to the site, should all be pretty easy to do hopefully.

Thanks. :)

Fiver from me. I would've donated a tenner, but I don't think I can afford it at the moment.

Hopefully you get enough donations to stay afloat, this place is fucking awesome, and to see it go down would be pretty saddening, to say the least.

I have $50 in cash form but I have no knowledge of how to put it into online currency. I MAY actually be going around town to get my ID and open a bank account today so I may figure out how to do it with Debit.

THIS place? No, the radio will not be available for a while is all. It's the actual online radio that costs the MOST money to keep up.

SegaMark uses a PayPal account, so you can contast him about how to do an online donation. It's really not that hard at all and he makes it a point that donations are done safely as well.

I've paid the radio bill again this week, I don't mind covering it when it has to be done, but I don't want to be doing it each month - I also want to get us back up to 30 or 40 slots again soon.

The front page of the site has been updated with this button, please help support this site, the audio server is due for it's monthly payment again and I don't want to pay for the third month in a row, I want to be able to use donations to top up the account so it's paid off for a few months.

Thanks

I think you got the wrong idea about t-shirts, haha. They're going to be sold at cost price so there's zero profit, so they won't actually donate anything to the site.

The site & forums will never die anyway. If anything is going to go offline it's the actual radio station, that's the financial drain here. ;)

Yeah that donation of yours helped a lot to pay audio server bills. Thankyou for that! :)

This £100 target is a one off to cover some costs, I've had to renew the vBulletin license for another year, as well as order parts for the new Audio server, in total this came to around £130 but I'm happy to cover £30 of it.

After that the monthly targets should only be around £25-30 a month to cover server payments.

Thanks to all those who support RadioSEGA. :)

I could maybe manage a fiver a month, my finances are a bitch right now -_- Friday is payday, so yeah.

Edit: Mark its a quick idea but could you tie it into the radio? If someone donates they get to request so many tracks...their requests go through first...they get a priority slot...

Being honest I haven't actually listened to the radio on 3 months, I just stay for the forums :P but it may be a way to get people to donate

People on other forums have done that before already. It's called "Premium Account/Contributors". This usually leads said station to making lower quality available to public users while have the quality (like we have) only available to those who contribute money. Let me tell you, I don't like that idea on an initial standpoint. (It's not because I'm "poor" either. I like the setup we have already.)

I know what its like and I've seen it on other sites -_- it could be something simple, a little icon next to your username? Just the ability to have your request put through faster, some little bonus :/ I don't really know.

No one should go down the Xbox Live route and essentially charge for things that should be free :I

Gavvie
17-03-2009, 21:50
The thing with that idea is that you'd have to put a donation limit in, or else everybody would donate a quid and get the same bonuses.

I know where you're coming from, but it'd have to be for people who donate a massive amount of money, and it's extra code that has to go into the radio and requests system.

Currently the minimum you can donate is £5. For that ammount a few extra requets or something wouldn't be too bad :I again I stress I don't give a damn :P I'll donate anyway, but perhaps if you have regular listners that don't visit the board, it'd be an incentive for them

I am thinking of ways to reward users, or to show they have been supportive. This new addon I've installed allows a forum usergroup upgrade, and a special icon next to their name, which I will impliment as soon as possible, although I need to think special rewards for users.

The requests one could be a good idea - but is difficult to make work, as SAM does limits by IP address and not forum account, and I'm not quite sure how that would work - I know I can't make a request jump the top, and it could ruin the way the requests work as it would overrride everything. I may look into adding a few more requests to the hourly limit if possible, but I don't know if I could make that work yet.

I'll think of something, probably a different coloured username with a little logo would be the first step. :P

Dr Shaneman
18-03-2009, 01:48
You can do a lot of PHP work with the request systems Mark, like having certain user groups request more or at times other groups can't. Also, not make a request for five minutes if no one else has requested after them. It's just knowing how. AnimeNFo has pushed SAM to it's limit with features so, I know it can be done.

I've been listening to RadioSEGA for a short time, and I wish I could support it cause I'd really like some tunes in my ears right now, but unfortunately I can't, I have problems to take care of myself.

But I hope you can figure something out so you can get this radio back up and running.

Perhaps in the future, when things aren't so bleak for me, I will donate a few here or there.

As per the first post, RadioSEGA for the past 3 months has had £20 donated between two (very very kind) people, the rest of the bills were paid personally by myself.

I've refused to pay for this months HiFi hosting bill, the HiFi stream will not return until the bill (£18) for HiFi is covered, if it isn't the LoFi stream will have it's capacity slowly reduced until RadioSEGA is totally offline.

There's still donation shortfalls for the HiFi server again, £5 was received in December - this months invoice is due, this is the last time I'm prepared to cover it myself.

I've also just spent over £130 on new hardware for the audio server, donations towards this cost would be greatly appreciated. This is being done because the current server is constantly crashing, and to ensure you can all enjoy a stable RadioSEGA.

If you would like to donate towards the site please click here (https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_donations&business=mark%40radiosega%2enet&lc=GB&item_name=RadioSEGA%2enet&currency_code=GBP&bn=PP%2dDonationsBF%3asupport%2egif%3aNonHostedGue st). Cheers.
