This is exactly why I haven't imported Yakuza Kenzan! yet. The game looks awesome, but if I have to keep one eye on a translation guide to know what the frigging hell is going on, I'm not interested.

I love the Yakuza series but I will not buy Yakuza 5 unless it get a western release.
Played through Shenmue in Japanese, can't say it was that fun compared to actually getting the English version.
Fingers crossed that we will see it over here then!

He said, “I know a lot” in a somewhat strained manner. After pressing him a bit more and prompting with questions about possible roadblocks, he essentially said that there were currently no plans to take it on.

So that basically means no Yakuza 5 outside of Japan, right?

Yes, which will also mean no Ishin, or anything after that.

Is Yakuza more for the adult audience? If that's the case that'd be a problem still or not?

I think it's less to do with it being an adult audience and more to do with "Well why would you foreigners want to play it? Here, have another shitty Sonic game while we play Phantasy Star Online 2."

The biggest problem is that it costs a lot of money to translate & publish a game in an untested market. Sega haven't done enough over the years to advertise the Yakuza games, so even now we're on to the fifth game, a lot of people have no idea what the series is about. This means Sega won't want to gamble say, £5 million on the basis they'll get a return of £2 million in sales.

We lose out thanks to a long run of ignorance from Sega. If you market a game well, sales won't be so disappointing.
