Well if you're at Gym 4 I suggest settling with Sandile.

Blitzle is also supposed to be pretty good there but the game has a pure electric type with no weakness so you might be better off with that if you want an electric.

My current team consists of:

Samurott
Conkeldurr
Leavanny
Krookodile
Archeops
Eelektrik

*falls off chair laughing* that was my exact reaction when I fought the electric gym XD

I actually beat the league, legendary & plasma tonight. Now I've got access to a couple more areas and I guess it's on to try and complete the new (but not fucking ridiculous and utterly obese national) pokedex.

Hm well, uh, I guess this is a thing that's happening.

Direct sequels to Pokemon Black/White have been announced for the DS.

Yea...

the DS...

Not really sure what to expect, Nintendo haven't actually done this before. I'm guessing a lot of reused assets though considering the announced system.

Because this way they can get away with reusing assets.

Why have two new games within a generation end up on a totally different piece of hardware? Going to alienate their fanbase from those who don't have the 3DS. Nintendo is smart to keep it on the DS for now.

Personally, I'm excited for this, as they are true sequels rather than remakes.

No, moving it onto the 3DS is entirely something Nintendo would do. They'd see it as yet another system seller, not that they need another one as it's now selling quicker than any other Nintendo handheld ever.

Can't really see why it's on DS though. Reusing assets, sure, but...well, it's commendable that Ninty are still trying to support the DS and its userbase, but there is a time when you're supposed to let go. I do leave you with this to muse on though: The word was that Kirby Mass Attack was to be the last Nintendo-developed DS game to release in Europe, so where does that leave Black/White 2?
