Chickaroo Reviews - Kim Kardashian: Hollywood (Android)

Post by chickaroo1 »

Oh the Kardashians. Whether you love them or hate them, you can’t deny how much of an impact they’ve had in the past few years. And out of nowhere, Kim has a video game! But is it actually good? Or will this fade into obscurity?Game: Kim Kardashian: Hollywood
Systems: iOS, Android
Release Dates: Late June 2014
Developers: Glu Mobile
I’m __, and Who the Hell are You?
Story: (I can’t believe I’m actually reviewing this game.)
So the story is that you are new to California and you start working at a clothing store. Kim herself notices you and sets you up with a manager. And now you're off to make yourself famous.
Doing It for The Fame
Gameplay: So the game is a bit of an RPG or a simulator. You can travel to places all around California and eventually, around the nation. Your character can’t really move around the place. But you can scroll through the area and tap on the little icon to enter a building.
The goal of the game is to be famous. In order to do that, you’re going to have to do photoshoots.Lots and lots of photo shoots. This is where elements of other popular mobile simulator games come in to play. When you start a photo shoot, there is a time limit for them. Sometimes they can be one hour, two hours, three...or even 24 hours. Your character has energy, and he/she can use it to do tasks during these photo shoots such as react to the background, wardrobe change and much more. By doing these tasks, you get star points and EXP and money. Once your energy runs out, you cannot continue to do these tasks until you earn them back every few minutes. This can take a while to do.
Traveling to places costs money. But it’s not that expensive.
Outfits are a semi-must in this game (of course). You start off with a few simple shirts and jeans and shoes and some accessories. As you level up, you can unlock more outfits. Outfits can be bought with money or K coins. K coins are like the premium money for this game. It’s hard to earn and the only way you can really get more is to spend actual money in the game.
Stock Art to the Max
Graphics: This game has the look of a mobile game. It looks like stock art and "cartoony". It looks like if someone tried to draw realistically. It's so plain and simple but it works somehow.
Generic 2000's Rock
Music: The music here sounds so generic. Like music you'd hear in some fashion TV show or movie. It's catchy but can get really old. And just plain annoying after a while.
A Great Mobile Game?
Overall: Kim Kardashian: Hollywood is just a weird game. It does a few things right. It can be addicting and the game allows you to either date boys or girls (no matter what gender what your character is). Which is a very good thing in today’s society. But the obscurity of it is that it’s a celebrity based game. And with a celebrity who is “famous over nothing”.
