Your Pets!

Post by Tru »

There is no pet thread! What a crime! A scandal! :P

Come tell us about the bundles of fluff, feathers or scales in your life!

As many of you probably know by now, I have a lovely little hamster called Milo. He's a Syrian that was originally grey and white, but is now more brown and white that I bought in February. He's incredibly friendly, loves carrots and recently got a bigger house since he's grown quite a bit over the year.
He managed to escape a few times from the old cage too >_>

I also have two budgies, a blue and white one named Mercury and a yellow and green one called Neptune.

I've had Mercury for years, when I was still living with my in-laws, so he's moved twice since then. Originally he was alone, and had a plastic green friend for company. When we got our own place, we decided to buy him a friend; Neptune. It was probably stupid of us to get a green and yellow budgie though, as the first thing Mercury did upon meeting him was try to climb on top of him, like he used to with his old plastic buddy >_>

They've good friends now though and get on mostly well ^_^

We have a running joke about killing them both because they are very very vocal >_> We love 'em though!

I've had loads of pets when I was younger, and before we had some dwarf hamsters, two guinea pigs and two fish. We really want to adopt some cats, but can't whilst we live in rented accommodation.

These are my old dwarfs:

Cats! The birds will never shut up then if something's constantly trying to kill them.

There are no pets in my house now. My brother used to have loads of Gerbils; two died huddled up together on the same night afer eating some dodgy vegetables; one went missing and we could only find the spine in the cage (I presume he was eaten); one keeled over of his own accord; and the last cut himself on some paper in the cage and bled to death. I suppose it was one way of teaching a kid about the circle of life, I wonder if Elton could write a feelgood ditty about that.

Now I just feed the birds in the garden and a squirrel usually turns up and eats it all. He is quite partial to all the left over gerbil food I put out.

I never managed to get along with pets. Dont get me wrong, I LOVE pets but they always die one or another reason. Some died "Accedentaly", Some ran away, and some suicided (I wonder why...). If I had a pet, It usually survived for 2 months and than it died, ran or suicided.
But about 4 or 5 months ago, I got some goldfishes and it is my first time having goldfishes as pets. And they are Still ALIVE! It seems I am making my first steps on keeping a pet alive! I geuss that's why they say you have to start small and rapidly go bigger.

P.S. any body interested for me to say all the animals that I "Accedentally killed"?

Yeah it is worrying how you keep putting accidentally killed in brackets.

What Should I do when I was 3 and I didn't know that my baby chicken didn't know how to play a pillow fight!
He took the first hit and he got a little bit flattened up... looked good on him though...

EDIT: P.S. I put accidentall in brackets because I wanted to remind you guys that I did not want to take those poor little animals' lives... I SWEAR!
