Then why are there so many 2D games coming out now in the past few years? Why are there more good 2D games than 3D games?Biggest sonic fan wrote:In my case it's a little bit too much platforming. For God sake, were in the 3D era people!
Sonic was never only about speed. What made his games fun was incorporating platforming with a sense of speed and momentum. If it was just sonic running through a 3D space(or even in a 2D space) and jumping "occasionally" then the game would be crap. Just look at most of the Sonic titles from the past decade. Crap.

Made by same guy who did those Sonic comics not to long ago. Creator of Boxer Hockey.

^Has he made anymore comics?
Anyway, yeah, I know Sonic isn't all about speed but that game had just something that didn't make it as fun as it was with Sonic Unleashed's day stages. And I am not insisting on that. It's good to have something a little bit different but I just expected more speed or something. I don't know but Something's missing.

^ im guessing its the boost.
In unleashed more rings you got the more you boost.
Here you have to get the wisp.
Think i said it before but the boosting in Unleashed was fun but made the game to easy since there were rings everywhere. I haven't played much of colors yet but it seems like you need the wisp which you have to find to boost so its good to see theirs some challenge than running through destroying everything in your way.

^Now that you mension it, it IS partly because of the boost. Not just because it was easier to get. When you pressed the boost botton, it felt so much more as if your full of speed. The background became bloory and sonic made this "AAEEEYHHH!" sound which showed some power.
But Sonic Colours' boost isn't really that atractive. Except the change of the sound, I don't see any differences. There isn't even much different between the speed when you don't press the boost botton.

This is pretty much exactly the post I was gonna make last night, but I got bored and went to bed to play Robot Unicorn Attack on my ipod.RWDebara wrote:Then why are there so many 2D games coming out now in the past few years? Why are there more good 2D games than 3D games?

We may be in the 3D era but New Super Mario Bros. Wii is still one of the greatest games this gen.

What? Do you know why games suck as Super Mario Galaxy did so much better then the other 3D sonic games? Because they were good 3D platformers. This is why Sonic Colours has been so well rated. It what sonic was best at years ago and they blended it 3D well. Unleashed hardly had any platforming in the sonic stages.Biggest sonic fan wrote:In my case it's a little bit too much platforming. What those guys said.
Sonic Unleashed is a 3.5D game and the way the camera switches between 2D and 3D action was so awesome, except there were not enough slower platformer bits, and well, Sonic was too slippery for those anyway. Loads of people wanted more platforming, so it sounds like Colours is more balanced in that regard?
Personally, I'm a fan of both 2D and 3D Sonic, and the Hedgehog engine was great for giving us the best of both worlds. I loved blasting through Unleashed's stages with the boost button as the sense of speed was a real thrill, but I loved the platforming of Sonic 4 as well, especially Act 2 of Lost Labyrinth.

First of all, after playing the game for the first few hours yesterday, let me say Sonic Colours is awesome and probably the best "3D" Sonic game ever. At least, that's MY point of view, angry fanbase!CapnCloudchaser wrote:Sonic Unleashed is a 3.5D game and the way the camera switches between 2D and 3D action was so awesome, except there were not enough slower platformer bits, and well, Sonic was too slippery for those anyway. About the "Sonic too slippery for platforming", it's way better in Colours. But Sonic is still a bit too slippery for my taste. Sure, after a few tries of the 2D platforming acts, you'll get the hang of it, but there's still work to be done here.
Nonetheless, I praise SEGA for the great work done here and Sonic 4. Let's hope they keep on working and improving Sonic games.
