Giant Bomb Quick Look

Surprisingly positive considering it's Jeff and Ryan.

Apparently once you get all the red rings in the game and finish every Game Land stage you get to play as Super Sonic in the levels.

Way to go SEGA. :)

Covered that already.

And as most of you mentioned (+1 point to Tru and Kool Chao for mentioning the slippery bit), the most recent 3D games lacked platforming, especially Unleashed (and I do mean both the Wii/PS2 and PS3/360 versions). That's why Sonic Colours on the Wii gets good scores. It has one of the most elaborate platforming ever in a 3D Sonic game. And yes, Sonic seems too slippery (if I died only 5 times with the Wiimote+Nunchuck combo, I did die more with the GCN controller), but it's easy to get a hang of it.

Sonic 1 - 4:EI had good platforming, and Colours carries on with it.

And with Rek and Gonic here, we may be in a 3D era, but both Mario Galaxy (3D) and New Super Mario Bros. (2.5D) are the greatest games made for this gen.

Ok than. So let us all say that I am the only one who thinks that 80% of the game is 2D platforming.
But is it just me again or was the boost in Sonic Unleashed more fun than the boost in Colours?

Yes, 80%. That's good, in my opinion. It adds to the challenge.

The boost in Unleashed was okay, but it relied too much on Rings, making it too easy for S Ranks (As in, RINGS ALL OVER THE GODDAMN PLACE.), which is kinda mediocre. In Colours, they grabbed the Boost mechanic from Rush/Rush Adventure (To get my point right, you only had a Power-up, Badnik destruction and tricks to charge up the meter), made it as a white Wisp exclusive BOTH on the Wii and DS and made it awesome.

Again, Sonic isn't all about speed. It requires good platforming, and a great dose of concentration. I mean, why would anyone speedrun Marble Zone or Labyrinth Zone? :P

^Wait, isn't Sonic ment to be "RINGS ALL OVER THE GODDAMN PLACE"?

And it wasn't just the rings, that gave you boost, it was also defiting enemies or drifting or chain reaction homing attack.

Um No.
There were some levels in the classic games (Even some new ones) that i was hoping for a ring around the corner.

Still, I thought Rings were a major part of the games.
And just like we say Sonic isn't all about speed but most of it is still seposed to be speed, Not all of the levels are ment to be full of rings but most of the level should contain rings. So you can't really expect rings at every corner. I don't even seppose Sonic Unleashed had rings at every corner. The gaia temples didn't have rings eader.

Rings are important, but it's how you use them in terms of the level design that counts ;)
