No one said it wasn't a major part of the games, we're saying their notBiggest sonic fan wrote:Still, I thought Rings were a major part of the games.
EDIT:What a coicidence on the same day we were talking about the speed vs platforming here, screwattack released a video talking about the game and the same point.Biggest sonic fan wrote: ALL OVER THE GODDAMN PLACE".

FINALLY someone speaks the truth. It was so coincidental, so, kudos to Craig for supporting that. ^__^RWDebara wrote:EDIT:What a coicidence on the same day we were talking about the speed vs platforming here, screwattack released a video talking about the game and the same point.

^Intresting. I liked the part how he said, because sega hipnotised us to believe that Sonic is all about speed, these days we say that Sonic games, aren't fast enough. I seppose it's true. But we must admit that from the biggining when Sonic was invented, Sonic was ment to be fast and have nothing to do with platforming. But it seems SEGA proved us wrong and it is more than just speed.
I'm getting a bit tired of this speed mambo jambo, really. I understand if younger fans appreciate the recent 3D outings of the franchises, I really do. I understand speed has always been one of Sonic's (the CHARACTER) trademarks and what most people remember him by.
But Sonic GAMES are, most of all, platforming games. A Sonic game involves more than just speeding through a stage without even pressing any kind of buttons except "A" to perform homing attacks. It was always about GOOD platforming, tight controls and, just as the icing on the cake, speed.
Speed is like the dessert, not the main course!
And rings should be a reward not a given right all around the stages. As someone else stated above, in classic (good) Sonic games, there were some bits where the player is really praying for a ring to appear.
Boost? Yes, boost is nice but if you are able to control Sonic, just like you can in Colours.
That's where Colours gets it right. That's why it's appealing to most older fans. Sure, it's not perfect, but it's a huge step in the right direction.
Thank you very much and sorry for the ranting.
