Not quite. Oath is a remake of 3 using the Ys 6 engine, Ys Origin is a prequel using the Ys 6 engine, Ys Chronicles is a remake of 1 and 2 though it still uses the same mechanics as the originals but with better graphics. The newest Ys on the Vita is a remake of Ys4 (SNES) using the Ys Seven engine.

I love Ys Seven's engine, so I hope the Vita one will be amazing!
Interesting to know...is 6's engine good? I know 6 itself was bad on PSP, but does it affect the other ones?
Ys 6, Ys Oath, Ys Origin are the highlights of the series for me. I consider Seven to be pretty low down since the team mechanic breaks the flow of combat and just adds in a unnecessary layer to combat.

Ah I see, fair enough.
I guess that is why I am loving Seven...since the strategy is needed in order to overcome some boss battles, plus I like the idea of playing everyone else other then Adol personally.

Awesome soundtrack too.
I still need to finish Origin with the third character. Oath is still better at the moment though in pretty much every way.
