I saw The Hobbit this evening. I liked it: It felt a lot more fun than Lord of the Rings and Martin Freeman was a brilliant casting choice.

The Hobbit.

When it remembered what it was supposed to be adapting it was quite fun, it nailed the lightheartedness of the hobbit pretty well. Shame the film constantly devolves into random shit like battles at moria or white orcs or that fucking stupid brown wizard.

The film also gets pretty randomly tonally, it'll happily go from "oh those wacky dwarves and their misadventures" to "remember when everyone DIED AT MORIA?"

Hey remember Moria? THAT WAS IN THE LORD OF THE RINGS. That overlook? THAT WAS IN LORD OF THE RINGS. The Witch King? HE WAS IN LORD OF THE RINGS Elf chick, Saruman (HEY GUESS WHAT HE'S EVIL) THEY WERE IN LORD OF THE RINGS LORD OF THE RINGS LORD OF THE RINGS LORD OF THE RINGS LORD OF THE RINGS LORD OF THE RINGS LORD OF THE RINGS LORD OF THE RINGS LORD OF THE RINGS LORD OF THE RINGS LORD OF THE RINGS LORD OF THE RINGS LORD OF THE RINGS LORD OF THE RINGS LORD OF THE RINGS LORD OF THE RINGS LORD OF THE RINGS LORD OF THE RINGS LORD OF THE RINGS LORD OF THE RINGS LORD OF THE RINGS LORD OF THE RINGS LORD OF THE RINGS LORD OF THE RINGS LORD OF THE RINGS

Actually the book itself can be tonally inconsistant, I don't really want to spoil anything but I will say you'll likely be keeping a list by the end of the third film.

Which by the way is a massive mistake, there was no way this book has enough content for 3 films and surprise surprise they had to pad out with filler crap.

Decided to make use of the shiny new IMAX screen they installed here and it looked amazing, even in 3D although it blurred if you tilted your head at all.

There were no Orcs in the book. Really disappointed with the film, especially considering how amazing the Lord of the Rings trilogy was.

I thought The hobbit was enjoyable. A nice, simple, fun, light hearted movie.

Since the year is about to end i been trying to decide what has been my favorite movies... So far i have...

1- Moonrise Kingdom
2- Django Unchained
3- Argo
4- Paranorman
5- Skyfall
