Only items? It can mean that these were just unused/not implemented in the final game. But... it makes me think that maybe the prototype (or the concept) started as a remake but ended as B/W 2.Matty wrote:The Ruby/Sapphire remakes are likely.
In the code for Black/White 2 a lot of items & sprites for items that were exclusive to R/S/E/LG/FR are contained in the games code, whereas they were missing in the original B&W. Why else would they do that?
Either way, what you said sounds like an indicator.
I don't think they'd want to release this on DS at this stage. It's be pretty lame if the first proper Pokemon on the 3DS is a remake.
I don't get why people even want a Gen 3 remake, the series has hardly taken huge leaps graphically. Gen 3 doesn't really need one, at least it was in colour unlike Gen 1 and 2.

It's not graphically; as far as I know the reason of remakes is that at this point that's the only Generation that is left behind gameplay-wise to the series. If there are hints to those games in the data of BW2 itself, plus having 3 of the 5 regions being relevant in someway for this Generation a RSE remake doesn't sound like a far-fetched idea.
And besides, that's the only major speculation I'm getting from fansites; nothing else really makes sense at this point. Unless there's FINALLY a home console release on WiiU.
Gen 1 remakes used the same systems as Gen 3, so that Gen is also behind. Though I'm not into the systems enough to know the the subtle differences.
I'm not entirely sure that Gen 3 remake is the "only" thing that makes sense. The beauty of the Pokemon franchise (being such a whore) is that an announcement could be anything. People were saying Gen 3 remake was the only thing that could make sense when they were teasing Pokemon Conquest.

Gen 1 remakes were made due to the inability of Gen 3 connecting with the previous Generations.Reknoc wrote:Gen 1 remakes used the same systems as Gen 3, so that Gen is also behind. Though I'm not into the systems enough to know the the subtle differences.

Besides, what could Game Freak be unveiling at this point that cannot point to RSE remakes? If it's not that then maybe it's going to be a Wii U Pokemon game. A new Generation, in my opinion, is far too soon.
