Linux returns to the PS3 and is introudced to the slim thanks to KMeaw & Graf_Chokolo

Has access to all 7 SPUs & the RSX engine so heres hoping to the PS3 being a beastly pc :D

http://psgroove.com/content.php?744-Asb ... -Necessary

edit: No this does not allow piracy so before anyone says something i don't see how anyone can have an issue with it

I wouldn't be surprised if someone did have a problem with it since people dared play around with hardware they own.

idk why they bother

Everyone else is outside the DMCA jurisdiction and Hotz didn't sign up to PSN, thus he didn't accept their TOS, and legally he didnt do anything wrong

I wonder if MS will save their new resident hacker if the worse comes to the worse

If this carries on for much later then it's going to ruin it all for those of us who don't want to fuck around with their PS3.

Doesn't matter, if LG win their suit then no one will be able to use their PS3 :P

Its only the slim CECH 2501xxB series i think that LG are going after

Tbh it serves Sony right, they started it by removing other OS, of course Geohot had previously tried to gain access to the hypervisor but he wanted linux to have full access to the systems resources, not piracy

On topic:

The NGP has had its "price leaked" by an employee of Gamestop

RRP atm is $299 so expect to see it here for £299

I do wonder Matty, do you kick up nearly as much of a fuss when a café you visit regularly removes an item from it's menu? For the past few weeks all we've seen from you is moaning about how Sony removed the "Other OS" item from their PS3 menu.

Sounds about right to me, but sometimes those systems just need a price so they can plonk pre-order details into the system. Take it with a pinch of salt.

Very off topic but... I actually kind of hates when that happens. It's always one of my favs that have to go. Part of the reason why I rarely visit cafés nowadays. Of course me currently being unemployed might also be part of the reason, but let's not go into that.
