I thought Gold and Silver are classed as colours these days?

I doubt it will improve much given how much is being crammed into the game (to me, unnecessarily), a solid 30fps is expected, but the graphics won't improve....why would they when they know the game sells in the millions due on name alone?

Mixed gens is its saving grace...the new reveals used to be imaginative (Gen II is still pretty rad) but from what I've seen, we are getting yet another frog creature when we had a few in Gen V, and we have Politoad...how many times can you make the same species before it's been tired out?

They're colours but they're also precious metals, which is what people usually consider when they're put together.

The trailer didn't even manage a solid 30FPS though, and there's no reason it can't be 60 with those graphics. If there's a lot of content to make up for the rather mediocre graphics than I'm willing to overlook them since content is king.

Considering how many types of a single species there are I'm gonna guess a lot. Better to have a new bat than zubat over and over and over and over and over and over again. The old pokemon are just that, old, and they're getting boring. Even if they make pokemon of the same species it'd still show more diversity than reusing ancient ass pokemon.

True, but considering the remakes of R/B were called Fire red and Leaf Green, technically speaking the BW was the first since 2004. :P

This generation has had very few instances of 60fps due to the processing power I gather...and given Nintendo's history of a solid framerate > 60fps, then I don't expect them to ever touch 60 unless they can.

Perhaps, but more pokemon doesn't necessarily mean more content...if it were more regions, moves and trainers post-game then yeah...but more pokemon isn't exactly much content in my eyes.

Yeah, but surely there's an animal or object they have not covered? There are toads in this world that look more like Salamanders as well as plants we keep discovering every day.

I don't think old pokemon are considered boring if you grew up loving these certain ones. I am a big Pikachu/Umbreon fan...Game Freak getting rid of those two due to how old they are would make fans angry. (especially Pikachu)

I don't think diversity means reusing the older things, diversity is the representation of different looking creatures...even if they use the same toad/bat types in Pokemon, they could be a little bit more imaginative...the Woobat is a great way to make it different from Zubat...Snivvy and Treeko are bad examples of what not to do.

I'm not saying that adding new pokemon is bad, but if you add something that's been done before...then it loses its overall charm. Old pokemon have history to them...even if their old, there are many fans who love these older pokemon...not saying that the new ones are all bad, but I keep seeing signs of lazier and lazier design.

However, a more valid complaint of something old would be the sound samples they use on the older pokemon...they need to change that.

Yea, but they just sound like goofy names dulux would use for their paint.

The 3DS has been very good at being 60FPS though.

I never said more pokemon were more content, we don't know anything else about this game. It could be filled with a lot of features for all we know. This is a brand new region so there could be all sorts to do, could be bigger, could have a bunch of towns.

They don't need to get rid of them, Black and White had the right idea and it's part of the reason why it's the best gen since the originals. You're on a new adventure with all new animals to catch, no longer are you harrassed by zubats or ratattas or geodudes. If they really must use the older ones then leave it until post story content.

edit: some of these pokemon are older than the people who will be playing the game.

That'd actually make me laugh.

It depends on the developer though...I am sure Nintendo would love to have it at 60fps solid if they wanted to...but given everything, I don't see them doing it.

lol You worded it that way, sorry I midread your post.

I don't doubt it'll have all the town tropes present in the game. I just wish they did what they did with Gold/Silver...revisit Hoenn or Jhoto for more badges.

You mean Black/White Vanilla or the sequels? The sequels did have the right idea....the first game, didn't for me...I couldn't get into any of the pokemon (and I am one of those who anticipate new things in a sequel)...locking away the older ones post-game was not great at all...especially for a casual player like me.

To be fair, only Gen I and 2 did this...Gen 3 had Poochyena's. I don't get why the random encounters get some complaints when Nintendo is famous for doing such things in their other games. I have to disagree here....a balance of old and new is what they should strive for...I agree that Zubats, Rattata's and Pidgey's are annoying, but they were only used in the first two gens and the remakes (a given since Gen 2 merely added a hundred rather then a hundred and eighty), if you have to capture new pokemon at the beginning that's fine...but at least make the older ones rarer to catch!

That's not surprising, the games are aimed at the kids after all, but now you gone and made me old!

The only reason I tolerated old Pokemon in B/W2 is because it kinda worked since I'd already been through this region with its region specific Pokemon. Well until the sewer when I got double-teamed by a ratatta and zubat then I stopped playing the game.

edit: movement in this game is still tilebased aaaahhhh fml

Another Pokemon game I'm not going to care about. Until they put at least reigons 1-4 into a game, I'm going to not bother.

Good luck with that.

Guess Hoenn isn't getting much love from Game Freak now; there might not ever be any RSE remakes in the near future.

The framerate looked iffy yes, but it's a good 10 months Game Freak has to tweak the graphics with. With Rek said however, the content is something I highly look towards.

Give GF some credit, a fully 3D Pokemon game is something many a fan dreamed of for a while.

I'm for the mix of old and new Pokemon this time around; maybe I'm more tolerant of what to expect with the selection of Pokemon this time around.

And hey, if anything, maybe GF will actually make Spotpass/Streetpass useful for once eh?

Btw Flame, do you still hang onto that notion of four regions in one game?

I don't think we'll ever get a Gen III remake, it's not all that well regarded.

On reflection, Pokemon has always looked pretty bad, really simple, squished sprites out of combat and pretty nastily pixellated or static sprites in battle.
