i am a huge fan of the sonic series on the megadrive, but when i got my hands on the HD remake... Big round of applause. This game is great, yes its still in alpha phase but why dont sega take a good hard look and employ this team to redo sonic 1-3 and knuckles, i know a lot of people would buy it.. i would.

This could be the start of their saving grace and get back to their form, a fan took their chances and did streets of rage remix and that was amazing

What ever happened to that other Sonic remake that looked and played pretty good
http://sonicfanremix.com/ <-- that one
Visually speaking, Sonic Fan Remix was amazing. I loved the moving Eggman robot on the background and it was just... incredible. That's only visually speaking. Gameplay speaking, I found it a bit annoying because of all the cheap enemy placements. As ChaosBlue stated, things often seem to blend in. I can't see an enemy until I actually hit it and lose all my rings.

I read the Sonic Retro article. Wow, so one programmer's paranoia and overblown pride to keeping his source engine untouched caused this much trouble for the team? And the system requirements to play similar/equal to that of Crysis/Generations? What?

I know someone here can elborate on that.

Katawa Shoujo?

That took nearly 7 years? and that went pretty well (a bunch of 4chan users, if they can co-operate surely anyone can)

Well yeah but I heard part of the reason it took 7 years was because of some disagreements in the group.
Like the music for example, something about whether to release it as a soundtrack for people to download or not and some serious art revisions.

If it took them 7 years to make a VN I'd say it didn't go all that well at all.

Honestly, working on a project with a group of strangers through the internet is just not that good an idea. Hell, look at Black Mesa, though that does have other reasons why it's dragging on (they wanted to get picked up by Valve and didn't).
