The hinge thing is an accident waiting to happen when it comes to small kids that couldn't care less about the 3D and just want to take the console to school and play Pokémanz.

On the other hand, it'll probably appeal to non-gamers or casual gamers because of its tablet-like design.
A strong hinge would be better. Kids are careless as fuck and if they want to take their 2DS to school you know they're just ramming that thing into their bag, its a screen scratch waiting to happen.

The cheap price is actually rather tempting for me, I could get another region 3DS without having to break the bank too much.

Also take not the the 2DS is being released on the same day as Pokemon X and Y, which are money-making games for Nintendo anyway. I see it as a smart move.

The name's not very good though, it basically spells it out that it's a povvo version of the 3DS. Usually hardware changes improve on the old one. Could be a hard sell to flog something even worse than what wasn;t that popular to begin with.
Tic Tac, sir?

The 2DS is not a bad idea. Even if it's marketed at children, it's also good for those that can't use the 3D effect.
I agree that the design isn't very good.

Maybe I'll grab this one as I don't have one yet.

Certainly not a coincidence.

The 3DS has the option to disable the 3D effect. Nintendo completely neglecting that all of a sudden.

Theyre not ignoring it. Removing the feature lowers the cost. It also means dumb parents won't complain about 3D being an eye killer.

I know is optional. I think the price is the incentive. Why pay more for a feature you weren't going to use anyway?

Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuump.

I figured since there's a thread for the console, this would be more 'suitable'. If it isn't well then it's mod-powers ahoy to the 'Gaming Thread'. Anywho...

Yeah Swapnote is dead. Well, Spotpass (online) functionality has ceased. So yeah technically Swapnote is pretty much dead.

swapnote died a long time ago. Even if it was still functioning people stopped using it after the appeal wore off. Anyway who cares about sending static images when soon you'll be able to send animations!
