using save states i finally beat alex the kidd in miracle world on the 360 port. felt like cheating but it's been a childhood ambition of mine. took a good couple of hours and my xbox is japanese so the ending was just a black screen with a load of kanji. think i might have wasted my afternoon.
basically, i still don't know why alex was in miracle world to begin with, let alone why he was trying to kill everyone who lived there (at least apart from the bearded shop owner).
What did you just beat?

Uncharted Golden Abyss. Finished it on normal, went on new game to start a hard mode run to unlock crushing and get the remaining treasures, except unlike the proper games this one erases all your progress if you start new game. Well done Bend, z-tier developer confirmed.
Overall the game was okay, combat areas can be pretty well designed if you like going in stealthy. Biggest problems are the writing, Drake is so angry like 90% of the time in this and there's very little enjoyable banter. There is also the problem with the shoehorned in Vita features like the touchscreen shit. The 2 bosses managed to out-bad Uncharted 1 and 2's boss.

The last game I beat was Mass Effect 2 for PS3.
...mind you, that was last month.
I've beat the game before, back on the 360, but I didn't have a chance to actually enjoy it. My brother and I were borrowing the game from a mate of his, so we had to wait until he was finished with the other disc so that we could beat the game ourselves!
I actually enjoyed it a lot this time around, mostly because I actually had time to beat it with a decent playthrough. I also made sure that no one died (the first time I played it Legion and Miranda died) and I felt pretty damn proud of myself.
