Me and likely all my other American buddies on here got our Toonami on Saturday. So glad they're back. Cowboy Bebop, Deadman Wonderland, and Ghost In The Shell FTW!

Regarding Toonami, am I the only one who thinks it's a bad idea for it to return? It was very much a product of it's time and people seem to be looking back at it with nostalgia tinted spectacles.

Well I know I personally cannot watch Bleach or Cowboy Bebop without being interrupted by ad breaks.

(also the line up sucks)

Aaaaand your point is? Besides this revival is more of an experimental block of sorts since Williams Street (the people that run the American Adult Swim & Toonami block) are on a low budget with this said revival. So yea, if people tune in, it might get ratings well enough for them to get more money, and in turn, more chances to acquire more anime.

And that's all I'm going to say on the matter.

The problem is it runs into the exact same problem as the Dragon Ball Z release here. It can't be good because it needs to do well, but it can't really do well without being good. Realistically what are the chances that old series everyone has already seen and Deadman Wonderland are going to bring in the viewing figures needed for companies to fund a proper toonami block?

Honestly I felt they should have limited the amount of shows, maybe kept the more experimental series like Casshern and Deadman.

Build off around Casshern and Deadman would be nice, and not the other way around? To me, it doesn't feel that way. And those 'old series everyone watched' is kinda stretching it there. Still surprized these 'old shows' trended on Twitter that night though. Wasn't expecting that.

Isn't Toonami...an American block of anime on an American cartoon channel? So...is there an equal over in Europe? Why should it matter to the peeps over there? Just want to know. If it fails here then it fails.

It's hyperbole to say everyone obviously, but Bleach, Ghost in the Shell, Fullmetal Alchemist (yea, okay, it is at least Brotherhood) are like, the quintessential anime in the west. The only thing missing is Dragonball Z (no way they could afford that) and Naruto (which probably already airs on some other channel).

Actually it's called Toonami in the UK as well. Obviously I don't care too much about US TV. I just feel like they're missing what made the original so great. It introduced people to great shows like Cowboy Bebop, and The Big O. That's what was so great about anime on TV, you could tune into something you'd never heard of and discover it. The only people who seem to be interested or excited about Toonami returning are people who watched Toonami back in the day.

Well at least it'll introduce people to Deadman, though I never bothered with the anime I am a fan of the manga.

Edit: I guess I should ask, why are people excited about this?

Edit edit: the fact that it's SAC 2nd gig bothers me as well.

Hope they manage to get Panty and Stocking through, hated it myself, but it seems like the perfect thing to be aired.
