So that PlayStation 4 thing....sure took a hit on its parent company BADLY. Like wow. People were not impressed. Tbh I wasn't really into much of the stuff Sony showed.

some stuff looked ok but it was annoying to wait through the whole streaming to only get a glimpse at the new "controller" and some games.

I was disappointed...

Stock always goes down when a new console is announced.

Didn't watch the stream because it's on too late and live stream announcements are for suckers. Though from what I can tell they announced pretty much everything as expected. Showed the PS4 and its specs and shown some shitty launch window games and tech demos.

Par for the course for any new console reveal.

People are saying the console's the controller or something.

Yea, turns out they didn't show the system itself, just the controller. Which is probably the most important hardware to actually show.

I think, if people were expecting this livestream to be all OMGPS4, showing off a megaton of games, then yeah - you are going to have ended up disappointed.

What this stream was for, and what I think Sony did very well, was focus on what the PS4 actually does, with a small smattering of game reveals to ram some of the points home. The actual big games (God of War, Final Fantasy, Uncharted, Metal Gear Solid) were never going to appear at an event like this - they would've always been saved for E3.

This benefits Sony because, where Microsoft have to use their E3 presser to unveil a new Xbox, tell you what it does and why you want one, and then show you the games that are likely to launch for it, Sony can just roll up to the mic and spend two hours talking games. They've already done the "what PS4 does & why you want one" bit, they can just show the actual console machine off, tell you when it's coming out and at what cost, and then just blab on about games.

Very, very clever. Might end up not exactly stealing thunder from Microsoft, but they've certainly stolen a march on them. Getting in first was important this time around, if Sony wanted the PlayStation brand to remain relevant.
