Not what I meant >.>Reknoc wrote:Yes. Sony are actually being really devious by making it so you can only buy PS4 games on the PS4.
I was talking about both Microsoft and Sony toying with the notion of not allowing of not allowing you to play pre-owned games.
If they're telling developers they do it if they wish then it'll put all the gaming rental shops out of business.
Also most of us here buy pre-owned games.

Hmm, not bad, but I'd rather they give the franchise a rest for a year. Of course they won't; I just wish they would to let it recharge its idea batteries.Kaito-kun wrote:CG trailer for "Assassin's Creed IV: Sod it, let's make it all pirate like"
Would be nice if they went to one of the more exotic periods of history, too. The first game held so much promise by showcasing the Middle East, which was quite an education for me, and then hinting right at the end about possible other eras they could set games in. I know it'll never happen, because there's not nearly enough historical material to base a game on, but I'd love to see a full console game set on Yonaguni, or maybe a period and location that isn't well known in the West but can be based on fact like China or India one or two thousand years ago, or the Mayan period, stuff like that...

Sony really fucked themselves over when they went with the Cell BB engine over a standard processor on the PS3, yes it was the only Octa-core processor but it was IBM's architecture & not a standard X86 so if they strayed away from it then compatibility would be a nightmare, as was the story from PS2 > 3, needing it's own dedicated GPU to do the emulation.
So now because Sony have opted for an x86 processor PS3 B/C had to be scrapped, it's only doable by:
A) Sticking the Cell BB & the RSX into the PS4, which will push the cost up even more & increase the chance of failiure.
B) Making an expansion port to connect to the PS3, but the PS3 only has standard comms & doing it over ethernet poses security risks to both systems.
I like the idea of it reading the game disc & using that as a form of DRM & letting you play a version of it stored on the cloud, so you can still play the game but it eliminates the concept of using a game to snag a downloadable version then selling the game on while keeping the downloaded version.
As for preowned, Sony patented a POC (Proof of Concept) that allowed a small section of the disc to the written to with the users PSN info so the game is locked to a PSN account, despite being disc based. Whether or not they'll use it in the PS4 is anyone's guess, but i could see it happening seeing as they are just a money grabbing corporate joke now.
