Most games are stupid though, there's no real two ways around it. But I have no problem with that. I mean lets look at the last few games I played:
A buff space marine chops up orks in space with a chainsaw sword. Stupid
A blonde girl wearing a swim suit kicks a man who can shoot fireballs out of his hands. Stupid
Saints Row 3. Stupid.
The only FPS I enjoy is Borderlands, so don't feel bad!
It's really nothing to be embarassed about though. Everyone plays different genres. Not everyone is going to enjoy FPS games, for example. And not everyone is going to enjoy MMOs. I for one don't enjoy them, or most online games in general.
I guess you could say embarrassed to like Sonic Arena 2.
If you have heard of it, it's a fan made MMORPG Sonic game. It has terrible graphics and yet... it feels rather good to play a Sonic MMO game.

I don't think there's much you can do with a first-person perspective. You could turn it into an adventure game, kind of like Metroid Prime. Or you could go down Bulletstorm's path and use kicking as well as shooting to kill enemies (and impale them on cacti)

I play Black Ops with my brother, but only because it's like the only game he actually plays now.

There's quite a lot you can do with first person. Unfortunately every expects shooters which is why you get the tacked on combat of Mirrors Edge and the bad finales of the Thief games.
