Easily? No not really, Nintendo would have to give it a massive push again for it to even stand a chance.

I don't know if it's that big here and in the US though.
It's big here sure, no surprise either its low effort and cheap and can potentially make a lot of money through microtransactions.

Anyone really. Like Candy Crush Saga seems to be mostly played by middle aged women and makes mad bank.

uh yes, that's how most microtransaction games work. Give you the base game for free but put in mechanics that make you want to pay. usually something like a timer or stamina bar.

Some of the levels on Candy Crush are just impossible to beat, unless it lets you... it lets you get so close then offers to let you buy extra time/moves for 69p.

Most of their profits have been due to kids not knowing what they're doing though.

Yuuup. It's a pretty scummy practice.

Games also like to give daily rewards so you log in everyday which keeps the game fresh in your mind.

Doubt it. It's pretty hard to buy something without knowing what you're doing.

It was a news topic back in summer though.

I didn't say it was impossible, but I remember the news story being like, one kid, hardly "most of their profits". The kid probably lied anyway and knew exactly what he was doing.
