Valkyria Chronicles III

Post by Gavvie »

Probably not big news at the moment, but IGN have recently spotted that SEGA registered the URL valkyria3.jp back in May, potentially outing a second sequel to the PS3 tactical RPG. The connection has been made due to the URLs of the previous two games in the series (valkyria.jp and valkyria2.jp)

It's worth noting that this is a rumour at the moment. SEGA might have registered the URL just so they have it in their possession, but with Tokyo Game Show not too far away, and that being the convention where Valkyria Chronicles II was shown off in playable form for the first time, there is a small liklihood that Valkyria Chronicles III might be revealed there.

So, what dya reckon? If VC3 does indeed exist, what format would you like to see it on? Back on PS3, maybe? Or would you rather have it in portable form and see it on PSP? OR - A different format altogther?

This thread'll be updated as more news is made available.

Wasn't it mentioned a while ago that 2 was on the PSP because it was only meant as a stop-gap for another (hypothetical) PS3 game as they said it would take twice as long for them to develop a PS3 sequel?

Meh, I'm still waiting for Welkin in Eidelweiss DLC for Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing.

Aye, a PS3 game sounds likely, I hope!

I think the game will happen and will be released on PS3. Have in overall done quite well for Sega, although sales was slow in the beginning.
Looking forward to the PSP edition also next month :)

Possible teaser site? The date coincides with the Tokyo Game Show so it's certainly a possibility and those weapons in the background look like Lancer weapons to me.

You've got to presume so. It certainly looks like it could be another VC title.

Confirmation. It's a PSP game as well. I was hoping for a PS3 title in the hopes that shops would stock it by the time it's released in the West, but hey, that's how the cookie crumbles I suppose. I'll have to make sure to pre-order. And finish the first two.

Time to change the title of this thread : )
Name of the game is Valkyria Chronicles 3: Unrecorded Chronicles

SEGABits wrote:SEGA has confirmed the official release date for Valkyria Chronicles 3, it will come out on January 27th, both on retail (¥6,279) and digital download (¥5,660). The full name of the game is Valkyria Chronicles 3: Unrecorded Chronicles, the game will have an all new cast of characters, just like the part 2. The game will also take place in 1935, the same time as the first game.

In this game, you take control of squad 422, nicknamed the “Nameless”. The squad is made up of criminals that go by numbers, thus that is where they get their nickname, the nameless.

Sounds really interesting. Shame it's not a PS3 game, but VC2 is great, so I know this will be too ^_^
