I'd like to see on the list Yamato, Musashi's dog in Shadow Dancer for Megadrive.

I also would like to add Nei from Phantasy Star II and Sarah Bryant from Virtua Fighter, but I suppose that they are too obvious, isn't it?

Vectorman
Ecco
Toejam & Earl
Kid Chameleon
Sparkster (Rocket Night)
Gillian Seed (Snatcher)

None of them will win but there's some Megadrive era characters to throw in the mix!

I guess Michael Jackson doesn't count then...

Those two are Konami, mate. Not SEGA.

Must...Name...Sonic...Characters!

Alright, alright, just only one! And since sonic is an obvious one which I'm sure will be in the battle, I'll go with Shadow the Hedgehog.

And probably Axel Stone from Streets of Rage.

Speaking of Streets of Rage, I wanna see the Kangaroo from Streets of Rage 3.
There also needs to 8e Demi from Phantasy Star IV.

Yeah I was wondering about that.
I'm not to sure where we draw the line considering Gunstar Heros is developed by Treasure game but is synonymous with the Megadrive.

So just to be clear; only characters created by Sega's in-house studios can be suggested?

OH yeah, His name was Roo if I'm not wrong. Quite a nice character. I remember those times I used to get to that point, kill the boss but leave roo alive, than die at the next level and replay the game with Roo unlocked.
