Initial D EXTREME STAGE / SEGA / 2008
Renamed 1 track. Inspired by Jamie
Artists: Masaru Setsumaru, Takafumi Nishimura
Details: While Jamie was talking to me about EXTREME STAGE and the music ported from ARCADE STAGE 4, it came up that the newly made songs with just BGM numbers should get renamed to what they’re used for. Sadly, I’ve only been able to track down the Garage theme. I’m guessing one of the tracks is for the time attack ranking, but I don’t know all the new menus.
Ryu ga Gotoku Kenzan! / SEGA / 2008
Renamed 7 tracks. Suggested by Jamie
Artists: Hideki Sakamoto, Hidenori Shoji, Hiroyoshi Kato, Keisuke Ito
Details: A couple songs were translated differently on RS than they are on VGMdb (and thus other sites that would copy VGMdb like Yakuza Wiki). All of these were either a bit better on VGMdb or basically the same, so went with the VGMdb names to be more recognisable. Jamie suggested doing something similar with Ishin!, but I think the different translation Bisylizzie made are more accurate or more informative than what’s on VGMdb.
Third Party Music
All of these games were either developed or published by CAPCOM (usually both outside of Europe!) and mostly appeared on the Dreamcast. The only exception to that, really, is the earlier DarkStalkers / VAMPIRE games. As a whole, GreenViper8 needs to be thanked for inspiring it with the suggestion of SUPER STREET FIGHTER II X for Matching Service.
CANNON SPIKE (GUNSPIKE) / bigben interactive, CAPCOM / 2000
Contains 21 tracks
Artists: Kaori Kumakura, Kensuke Sato, Masaki Izutani, Toshiya Kobayashi
DINO CRISIS / CAPCOM / 2000
Contains 55 tracks
Artists: Akari Kaida, Makoto Tomozawa, Sayaka Fujita
NET de TENNIS / CAPCOM / 2000
Contains 7 tracks
Artists: Hideki Okugawa
Details: Reuses music from CAPCOM SPORTS CLUB, but slightly re-arranged. Plus, the network theme that debuted in MARVEL VS. CAPCOM 2 is new, but I haven’t included that.
NIGHT WARRIORS: Darkstalkers’ Revenge (VAMPIRE HUNTER) / Virgin Interactive, CAPCOM / 1996
Contains 47 tracks
Artists: Akari Kaida, Hideki Okugawa, Takayuki Iwai
Details: Some characters had their names changed outside Japan, so I used those localised names for the track titles. But I did tag them with the original names with TITLE_J.
Plasma Sword (STAR GLADIATORS 2: NIGHTMARE OF BILSTEIN) / Virgin Interactive, CAPCOM / 1999
Contains 39 tracks
Artists: Takayuki Iwai, Tetsuya Shibata
Power Stone 2 / Eidos, CAPCOM / 2000
Contains 24 tracks
Artists: Tetsuya Shibata
PROJECT JUSTICE: RIVAL SCHOOLS 2 (MOERO! JUSTICE GAKUEN) / Virgin Interactive, CAPCOM / 2000
Contains 43 tracks
Artists: Etsuko Yoneda, Setsuo Yamamoto, Yuki Iwai
Details: The English track titles, for the most part, come from the in-game BGM sampler. 7 tracks are only in the Japanese BGM sampler, though, since they’re for the Japan-only School Life mode. I think you’ll be able to tell which tracks are from there, I made it very obvious.
SPAWN: In the Demon’s Hand
Contains 18 tracks
Artists: Isao Abe, Takayuki Iwai, Yuki Iwai
SUPER STREET FIGHTER II X for Matching Service / CAPCOM / 2000
Contains 58 tracks
Artists: Isao Abe, Syun Nishigaki, Yoko Shimomura
Details: The music is identical to the CP SYSTEM II version of Super Street Fighter II Turbo (Super Street Fighter II X), so I sourced that from VGMrips. There’s a bunch of different names for the game, like SUPER STREET FIGHTER 2 X for Matching Service from the credits or SUPER STREET FIGHTER II X Matching Service Grand Master Challenge from SEGA’s product page, but the name I picked is from its website under CAPCOM, and is sort of a summary of the most commonly used names.
Tech Romancer (CHOUKOUSENKI KIKAIOH) / Virgin Interactive, CAPCOM / 2000
Contains 50 tracks
Artists: Yuki Iwai feat. Takayuki Iwai
UFC: Ultimate Fighting Championship / Ubisoft, Crave Entertainment, CAPCOM / 2000
Contains 9 tracks
Artists: Haruhiko Kawakami, Hiroshi Inukai, Keiichi Nishimoto, Kiyoshi Yoshikawa, Megadeth, Shunsuke Suzuki
VAMPIRE SAVIOR (DarkStalkers 3: Vampire Savior) / CAPCOM / 1998
Contains 50 tracks
Artists: Masato Kouda, Satoshi Ise, Takayuki Iwai
Details: This is a Japan-only release, but an English version was announced, so I’ve included that in brackets. Also, BABY BONNIE HOOD is called BULLETA in Japan, so the same applies as NIGHT WARRIORS: Darkstalkers’ Revenge.
VAMPIRE CHRONICLE for Matching Service / CAPCOM / 2000
Contains 39 tracks
Artists: Hideki Okugawa, Takayuki Iwai, Tetsuya Shibata, Yuko Takehara
Details: This contains content, including music, from the almost the entire DarkStalkers series up to that point, so this is where you can music from the original game as well as VAMPIRE SAVIOR 2.
I was also planning to add JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, but it sounds a bit different on Dreamcast compared to arcades, seemingly because it’s running on the DC’s real-time internal sound. If I remember and find time, I’ll try recording all the music for a future addition.
