Chickaroo Reviews - Haunt the House: Terrortown (PC)

Post by chickaroo1 »

Things can get pretty ooky spooky in places. And what better way than to be a cute ghost and scare people out of places?Game: Haunt the House: Terrortown
Systems: PC, Mac, PlayStation Vita
Release Dates: PS Vita: 1/9/13 (NA)
PC: 6/6/14 (NA)
Developers: Super Flash Brothers Games
Little Ghost, Little Ghost
Story: So basically the plot of the game is that you’re a little ghost that has to spook people out of public places and take back the night!
I’m So Startled
Gameplay: The objective of the game is to scare away all the people inside the 4 buildings in the game. You use the arrow keys to move the little ghostie around. The problem is, is that it’s kind of too responsive as it’s kind of hard to get where you want to get the little ghost. So how to spook people is to possess an item and shake it or do something with it when people are nearby. Once you possess an item, you repeatedly press a key to male the item shake or do something spooky. If people are nearby and see it, they might start to feel uncomfortable and start to panic and probably run out of the house. The more scares you can make, the more the meter at the bottom of the screen will fill up, leading to more ways to strike up some fear in each item you possess. Scare them as much as you can until everyone leaves. Not only can you scare people away, but you can kill one or two as well. Yes, underneath the cuteness of this game, there’s a bit of darkness in it too. In the buildings, there are at least one or two people that stand around and don’t really get much scared. But as you build up the meter for your scares, you can hit a key and drop something on them, pretty much killing them and taking their ghost. You can even play as the ghosts too.
But It’s Sooo Cute!
Graphics: This game is just adorable, let’s face it. The little “ooo”’s that the ghost makes is just too cute. And even the artstyle itself is cartoony and can appeal to all ages. It’s colorful, fast-paced and very nice to look at.
The Sounds of Terror
Music: The music here is pretty good. Very much on the whole wood instruments and the classical sounds of the opening theme will make you think of an old school styled music in carnivals and such. It’s a nice listen and gets you in the Halloween spirit.
How Spooky is It?
Overall: Haunt the House is a pretty good and cute game. It’s not hard, it’s not complex, it’s just right for anyone. It’s not much of an expensive game either so it’s just a nice little treat to play.
