I was at a mate's party last week, and his brother kept caning me on some old Mortal Kombat game for the 360. I got a bit cocky saying how I'd been playing beat 'em ups since before he was born and it was this game that was crap, but then all his mates then kept telling me how he was a legend at streetfighter too. Next thing you know we were having some showdown on SF4 in front of a room full of pissed people. And I had to use a pad (never used one to play SF4 before, even had to ask what the controls were).
Taught him a lesson in fighting games. Turns out he was the typical SF4 johnny come lately who could only play Ken. Just kept hearing his mates saying thing like "I've never seen him lose 3-0 before". I was loving it - I was the new legend at SF4.
He weren't that bad in fairness, but he thought just knowing a few special moves made him a good player. That's the least you should know.

What annoys me the most about that lot is the fact that they'll follow the exact same combo pattern over and over and over. All you need to do is block mid (For the jumping H kick), block low (For the low H kick upon landing), block mid (For their confused follow-up -typically a shoryuken) then counter and they'll be screaming in frustration.Killer French Bread wrote:Turns out he was the typical SF4 johnny come lately who could only play Ken. *Nod nod* I'm weird. I feel like I'm one of the few people who genuinely plays for fun online. I understand the rock/paper/scissors system, the low/mid/high block system, etc and can pull off a few combos and specials, but I know I'm not very good and I think that by knowing that I can enjoy the game a lot more.Killer French Bread wrote:That's it. The first combo you learn.
And when I blocked he kept moaning that I was throwing too much to counter his whiffs, as if that was one move and not a type of attack. Didn't understand the paper/stone/scissors aspect of it all. Throw beats block etc.
People who throw are jerks, totally ruins the game v_vKiller French Bread wrote:That's it. The first combo you learn.
