I was being a bit harsh, it's not totally shit. Firing 1000 missiles at once is fun. But I still don't know what Treasure were thinking making it that hard and that pedantically strict. There's one really specicific way to beat each level and it can take ages to find that out (through trial and error); and then ages again to actually execute what you need to do; and ages again to do that without pressing a slightly wrong combination of buttons once in the heat of the action, which naturally results in instant death.
It's so much harder than the DS and Dreamcast versions it's as if Treasure just went mental. Even the demo is bollock hard, it almost makes you think they don't want you to play the thing at all. Fuck knows what type of person this game is aimed at.

And one article I just read gave me a reason to reply to this:
Also, been playing Battlefield: Bad Company 2. Campain's meh, but the Multiplayer's the greatest thing ever. I just need to learn how to play.

Here's the rest of it.A reader of Kotaku wrote:Honestly I find all the criticisms on this pretty stupid. Like people hating on it for not being the most advanced shooter, well no shit its not the most advanced shooter. It was never supposed to be.
I am sick and tired of shooters being nailed as bad games for being too different than Call of Duty or any generic war first person shooters. Take Aliens vs Predators for example. It was exactly what it was supposed to be. Aliens fighting Preds. I remember the Game Informer review bashing AvP for Aliens being able to crawl on walls and Predators being able to go invisible... well no shit. It's AvP.

Pretty much. I've only read two reviews, both of which from places I value the opinion of more than a Kotaku reader (Rock Paper Shotgun which is an excellent site, and Jim Sterling's review, which says more about the quality of Kotaku readers than what I think of Jim Sterling) and the complaints were never about it not feeling like CoD but it failing to feel like Duke Nukem.

Gave R-type a proper go on the 360 the other day on infinite mode (infinite lives). Jesus christ im shite at this game now. I was losing close to 20 lives a level by about level 5.
Just started the first Dead space again but on hard. It's living up to it's name. I've only done the first chapter and I've already had to just run through sections because of a lack of ammo.
I have Gray Matter coming from Lovefilm today aswell so I'll be giving that a go tonight.
