Dead or Alive 4...wow, I remember owning that game. The boss in that game's an absolute bitch.

Still, it's a hell of a lot better than Dead or Alive 3 was. Terrible game, that one.

She is. I played through Kasumi's "story" thinking "Ok, this is tough, but at least there's not been anything that's made me want to throw my controller out of this second floor window that I'm currently sat next to". Then the boss girl turned up. After finally managing to beat her I thought "Well, time trial should be more relaxing after her". Then she turns up again.

Biiiiiitch...

I get that boss fights in fighting games are meant to spam specials like there's no tomorrow (I'm looking at you, Seth...), but she takes the cake.

It doesn't help that I haven't figured out the parry grab move yet.

Honestly, the best thing to do with her is just try and stay away and spam punches and kicks when you can. Nothing too fancy, just button bash.

That's exactly how I managed to beat her in the end. Stay back, look for an opening then mash Y.

It's a little easier once you unlock the Spartan. See if you can rush in and plant the Plasma Grenade. She's an excellent power character.

But surely once you've unlocked the Spartan there's no need to play through Story mode any more?

As you yourself noted, there's always Time Attack. She might pop up in Survival as well, unsure.

True, true. Although to be honest my main goal in the game at the moment is to try and unlock all of the costumes.
