Honestly, there's nothing more to the gaming community that pisses me more off than the whole hardcore/casual bullshit.
First gamers whine their medium is being condemned and not taken seriously as a medium, and as soon as the developers and publishers decide to open the market to a broader audience to make games more accessible and taken seriously as a medium, gamers whine that the whole gaming industry is only catering to casual gamers.

You are aware of the fact that, the more money they make from games like these, the more likely they'll release "hardcore" games, right? That this benefits ALL gamers alike when developers and publishers make money? "Hardcore" gaming is but a niche. Always has been, always will be.

Aside from that, I have, to this date, NEVER received ANY definition of "hardcore" or "casual" gamers when this debate has come up. Because I really would like to be able to identify myself with one of those groups, but NOONE ever gave me a reasonable explanation. So please, enlighten me, Gonic, what makes a hardcore gamer, and what makes a casual gamer.

With that out of the way - I'm not big into sports games, so I doubt I will get it. But I guess it's OK they're making this a series.

I don't know and to be perfectly honest I dont care. I study computer games in uni (for abour 3 years now) so its actually become a habit with audiences as they go on about different type of ganers etc.

It's an interesting point to bring up. I have no problem with the more casual game overall. However, I do have problems when talented devs are stuck making them and never really getting the chance to truly shine.

It's all well and good saying these sorts of games help fund the studios, but if it is at the cost of excellent "hardcore" games then that truly is a shame. But really, all media suffers from this.

Lizzy wrote:It helps :D Actually I quit after the release of 3D Blast I couldnt handle the 3D effect & those dang birdies. Then when it went to XBOX/Game Cube/Play Station whatever it was the controller shakes too much and sooo many buttons I gave up till the Wii came.

See I'm disabled, my story is back in 93 had this brain tumor taken out, and had to learn everything over again. The Sonic games where there and the character Sonic gave me confidence to get through those TOUGH years in jr high & high school of bullies, but once it became 3D I just cant take those effects. Sonic should stay 2D unless they know how to do 2D and 3D right.

I think that's why Sega does these mini games/Olympics with Sonic cause it's the only current way to get Sonic involved and played. I love Sonic and he will always be my hero, more sentimental ways but even this loyal fan has to say some of these games just aren't good.

Sad to hear that, but I'm happy that Sonic helped motivate you though tough time, really proud of that! :D Now, I'm adding you as a friend :)

And I hate the casual/hardcore gamer crap....it's so feaking overrated...IT"S JUST A GAME! THESE NAMES ARE DAMN NIHCES THAT DIFFERNTIATE FROM WHAT A GAME IS SUPPOSED TO BE! A GODDAMN GAME! Jesus...

In London? They are fantastic. Dream Long Jump feels like a sky level in Super Mario 3,jumping on clouds :D Personally I love Dream Fencing, pushing Sonic off the ledge or Mario for Revenge is quite fun! There is 1 that's like pinball lots & LOTS of shiny lights best played at night in a dark room for the best effects. But yes I recommend the dream events
