Reknoc wrote:It's hyperbole to say everyone obviously, but Bleach, Ghost in the Shell, Fullmetal Alchemist (yea, okay, it is at least Brotherhood) are like, the quintessential anime in the west. The only thing missing is Dragonball Z (no way they could afford that) and Naruto (which probably already airs on some other channel).
Naruto Shippuden is no longer on American television. It sucked anyway.

Reknoc wrote:Actually it's called Toonami in the UK as well. Obviously I don't care too much about US TV. I just feel like they're missing what made the original so great. It introduced people to great shows like Cowboy Bebop, and The Big O. That's what was so great about anime on TV, you could tune into something you'd never heard of and discover it. The only people who seem to be interested or excited about Toonami returning are people who watched Toonami back in the day.

Well at least it'll introduce people to Deadman, though I never bothered with the anime I am a fan of the manga.

Edit: I guess I should ask, why are people excited about this?

Edit edit: the fact that it's SAC 2nd gig bothers me as well.

Hope they manage to get Panty and Stocking through, hated it myself, but it seems like the perfect thing to be aired.
Hate to agree, but you're right. Toonami is used to bring new anime to American viewers. And it's better than nothing right now. Williams Street is broke out the ass.

At least it's something. If they get good ratings I'm sure they'll start to expand again. Give it some time.

I saw the timeslot, I don't see it getting very good ratings. Still, anime airing during the early hours of the morning is crazy nostalgic for me. I remember when Sci-Fi aired anime around that time. Introduced me to Nadesico and Evangelion and a bunch of bad 80s OVAs full of violence and sex.

How the DBZ DVDs will look:

I'm not really sure how anyone could look at those and think "yea, these are acceptable quality".

You'll be surprised. But knowing you, it won't. Late night Saturday timeslots such as that drives in the ratings for Williams Street/Adult Swim along with the Sunday night line-up .

That is rather surprising. 12-3 isn't just late night, it's late late night, like graveyard time where most shows are sent to die. Though maybe there are some timezone shenanigans going on as well.

Must be, since that timeslot here have proven wonders for Williams Street in the past.

Toonami has enough viewers for it to make a comeback, it was brought back because it was something we all loved and wished would come back.

So shut up because I'm beginning to get the feeling you just want to argue about things everyone likes. I never see you say anything positive about things that are popular amongst others, reknoc. You can't just write off toonami as "it's going to fail derdurp hurr" when you have ABSOLUTELY NO PROOF. You try to back everything up with invalid arguments and, frankly, I find it to be quite idiotic. And before you reply to this, I'm not reading it. Blow it out your ass. : )

Anyway, I think I was the only person who ever hated DBZ as a kid and adult in my area...It takes a lot to get my attention with an anime o_o I'm not sure why I didn't like it, actually. Although...some of the voice actors and the lines make me LOL, while others just creep me out :P
