Reminds me of some people thinking that Danica didn't fit the game at all and should be replaced by 'The Stig' character from Top Gear on name-awareness alone. So take this as you will; if he doesn't affect gameplay as an extra guest character, what would the reception to him be?
Option wrote:I like Danica's inclusion more than Wreck-It Ralph's. Danica at least represents the Daytona USA franchise, which SEGA published games for. So it makes kindasorta sense. Ralph has nothing to do with SEGA games, though. I know, they had Sonic say something, and yes I also know that racing games have a big role in the movie, but frankly, that cross-promotion bothers me MUCH more than the one with a racing franchise SEGA has worked with before.
You are the only person to make some support of Danica in regards to Daytona USA from what I have seen. I salute you.

And RW26...that makes no sense whatsoever. lol

The Stig would have been a much better character. I probably would have got it day 1.

True. At least the Stig is a character and I'm sure more people would instantly know who it is instead of the "...Who?" reaction most people outside of the US had with Danica.

But agreeing with Option, Ralf is the character I'm more sceptical about. The arguments for Danica make sense (She's NASCAR and SEGA did the whole Daytona (Let's Go Away) thing) my only issue with her has been that non-NASCAR fans have no reason to give a damn about her.

Same how non-Top Gear people, like me since I never seen it, would not know who this Stig person is, thus not instantly knowing who this person is and getting the same "Who?" reaction that Danica gotten.

I'd be willing to bet Top Gear is more popular than Nascar.

Guest character should have been Froggy as a stand-alone character.

You can find out XD Even if it is, I'll still won't know anything about Top Gear.

Guys, guys. Nothing can top Big the Cat and Froggy. Just saying.

If SEGA had got the rights to have The Stig in this game, he could have been heavily advertised for Europe to boost sales of the game. Simply put, these guest characters are just for the marketing and money.

Regional marketing, exactly. Stig would be advertised for European countries if he was ever in. Same for Danica here in the States (tho I don't know know if she was that advertised here).

SEGA clearly didn't put much time into advertising for this game over here I presume. It does cost money to advertise though so maybe that's part of the reason, but compared to the first game this was piss-poor.
