I'm supposed to be having a clear out/sort out today. Spent two hours sorting out one corner of the room, filling seven bin bags of old clothes, college notes, university prospectuses before thinking "Sod it, that's enough for today."
Then I made one of my chilli ketchup, bacon, cheese and egg sandwiches for lunch. They're lovely.

ah fair enough, I hate going through old bits of your life like that. Even receipts from years back get me down for some reason. It's like you suddenly realise you haven't actually progressed from being that sofa dwelling youth who'd blow all his money on junk and your life has revolved around buying useless trinkets like a cheap copy of Grim Grimoire from Gamestation that you'll never play.
Tic Tac, sir?

Dick.
Joking! I did do a course at college; however, it seems that it was one of those courses that gives you some handy skills that would equip you for a job and a qualification, however, while the practical skills are the same as what I'd get from a uni course because the qualification doesn't have the right name, for some reason that entitles potential employers in the field to look down their noses at me.
Bah, could be worse, at least I've got a job somewhere for the moment. Even if it's not really something I enjoy doing or related to the field I'm interested in. Or maybe I should find a new field? Develop new skills? I dunno...I'm still young, I suppose.

Do something you like then, that you have a passion for. Sounds cheesy but you may as well. You can always just go back to an office or shop job later if it doesn't work out and it's worth having a go even if it fails. I got fired from tesco and that's why i started an english course at uni, never thought about it before that. Been trying loads of mad things since like designing websites and theme nights at nightclubs. Currently trying to come up with t-shirt designs. This is so much more fun than being behind a checkout. Just got to have the balls to do what you want instead of what's put in front of you - which is all I ever did 'till i got the jolt of being fired to shake things up. I might end up behind a checkout full time again one day but fuck it I'll have fun until i do.Kaito-kun wrote:...Well I wasn't thinking that before but I am now!

I think you're right. There's an evening class up at Glasgow university that starts in October that I was tempted by. I'll give it a shot! Until then though, I'll just keep trying.Killer French Bread wrote:Do something you like then, that you have a passion for. Sounds cheesy but you may as well. That sounds great. What is the field that interests you? You could do anything you like until october tho, like i dunno was it you who makes model robots from the japanese cartoons on here? Why don't you make some of them and paint them up really well and sell them on the internet, something like that. I remember there was someone selling chocolate video game controllers on ebay once, that was a great idea. just generally maybe do some fun thing you like to keep your enthusiasm up until you start the course. if you haven't got a family or big responsibilities you can basically do anything you want within reason.

Yeah, I'm the one who makes model robots from Japanese cartoons, although I'm not really of the caliber to have anything worthy to sell. I just do them up for fun.Killer French Bread wrote:That sounds great. What is the field that interests you? It was actually a Japanese language course. While it's not exactly something that'll get me into a career it would be something interesting to put on the CV and it'd be something I might use in my spare time.
I am keeping busy for the next couple of months actually; look at doing some remodelling at home, then I've got an adventure planned for March, after that the place where I work now (A service station, joy.) if getting a refit. The restaurant/cafe part I work in is being gutted and a McDonalds is going in instead so I'll end up getting retrained. After that it'll be the busy summer season...But yeah,I'll try to find something to keep me going through the summer. I'm usually at my lowest during the summer.
