Guilty Pleasures
Amen to that. People say that I have terrible taste in music - because I tend to like a bit of everything.CapnCloudchaser wrote:I'm not really ashamed of my awful taste in music, films, whatever. I like Linkin Park, which is apparently wrong, and in certain circles being a Sonic fan is also wrong haha.
Okay, I do have one.
I read/watched Twilight. AND I ENJOYED IT.
- I'm happy to sit and listen to anything from Classical to Heavy Metal. Pop, Rock, Indie, Hip-Hop, Dance whatever - I'm sure there's at least a few songs I really enjoy and listen to.
(There is stuff and bands I really don't like - but generally you can put in front of a radio and I will end up humming along to most of it).
.. I too have read and enjoyed Twilight (and Harry Potter - not sure if that's a guilty pleasure or not).
I think my guilty pleasures tend to come in the form of liking terrible computer games.
It's not that I think they are amazing, I know they have a lot of flaws and I understand why people wouldn't like them - but there's something fun I find about them, that I latch onto and genuinely enjoy them.
A couple of examples:
Iron Man (NOT Iron Man 2 though, which is one of the worst games I've played). - I just loved flying in this game and avoiding missiles and jazz.
Alone in the Dark (the 2008 one). Once Atari released a patch to fix the awful controls, I fell in love with the game. Had a lot of fun killing the enemies and finding new weapons to create out of bits of tape and random junk. I also thought the story was a lot of fun to follow. It got to the point where I was excited to come home from work to play the next bit.
Sonic the Hedgehog (2006): Glitchy as hell, but after SEGA released a few patches I found myself really enjoying it. I loved the Sonic and Silver levels and thought the story was brilliant.
That's just a few games I can think of. But yeah, generally I think most of my guilty pleasures come from badly received games, that I randomly love.

Yeah I like them too. Don't see why everyone hates them.TheChaosBlue wrote:I listen to Nickleback. There's a few songs from them I enjoy. But everyone talks crap about Nickleback. I don't understand but eh. So I can join those who seemingly have horrible tastes in music.
I guess a guilty pleasure of mine would also be liking Sonic 06. I mean, I hate it, yet I love it. I feel like it could have been so good if given enough time and a revision.
I suppose you could call playing Visual Novels as a guilty Pleasure. Though really, I don't find VN's that guilty...

I gleamed some enjoyment from Sonic 06 and Sonic Unleashed. Like when you're in an abusive relationship and you try to prove to your family and friends that he/she is really nice underneath all the mess.

fuckin hell charles and eddie is a song i haven't heard in a while. Same with fleetwood mac mentioned in another topic, love tango in the night.
Maybe iron maiden is a guilty pleasure of mine. Really not into the metal scene, especially not prog rock type stuff, but my auntie left me her iron maiden record collection when I as a kid. I think the art work on the sleeves won me over, the egyptian themed Powerslave painting looks amazing on a vinyl size cover. To this day I can happily listen to a bit of 2 minutes to midnight or can I play with madness.
