You're referring to the materials in Sonic Rush Adventure you needed to collect to build new vehicles and improve your watercraft? If so, I don't think so; maybe you'll be able to build these gadgets depending on how many Rings you collect. Or they are unlocked throughout the game based on the number of animals you free from the capsules.
I played the demo, it's really good. Everyone feels smooth and it caters to new players which is the best idea for SEGA. The only unusual thing is that holding down the run button gives no momentum as the speed is immediate, but trust me I got used to it very quickly. Great demo they had, but I can't afford a WiiU, which is a shame seeing as Bayonetta 2 will be released on there, which is the only WiiU title currently out worth purchasing. I might get the 3DS version.

No. If it was out by now, more people will have brought a WiiU by now, to be honest though I've still not finished the first game, I'm currently going through it. By the way, I don't have anything against the WiiU or Nintendo, the failed launch of games just bothers me since it gives people little incentive to invest.
