Still sounds like a shit business model from a gaming point of view. But if the public are only prepared to pay a few quid for a game these days they get what they deserve in the end.
Tic Tac, sir?

KC wrote:I'd actually agree with this IF I hadn't yet tried the game. Truth is you can unlock everything without making any in-app purchases, just like with Sonic Dash. Of course, this will make people use their skills to play through the game and win rings and stars. It takes time, but it's just like with the regular version of ASRT. If you don't want to wait/don't like the challenge, unlock stuff with real money. Simple as that.
Does it also constantly beg you to buy something like Sonic Dash, or make the gain so small you'd take a good chunk of time actually getting anything? Is it free?

S0L has actually been answering criticism in that thread I posted, I'm still not happy about it, but I also already own the PC version and Vita version so whatever, that said though:

western SEGA was also silence on PSO2 so, rip I guess ryo's chances on consoles

considering the quality of most mobile games they should only cost a few quid.

Micro-Transactions...the plague of modern video gaming...Its fine when its done right, say like items that make your character look nice, but when its to make yourself better (pay2win)...that's a big no-no in my book. Also its fine saying that you can unlock these items normally via normal gameplay methods but these games then turn out to be a MASSIVE grind which is ridiculous...

The game works just like the console/PC version. Each race/challenge has 4 different difficulty levels. One of them is always available from the start. The others require you to spend the in-game currency: rings, which you earn easily by completing races, challenges, "missions" (achievements), etc. The game is actually quite generous with rings.

As you upgrade your character and complete more events, you'll gather the sufficient amount of rings to unlock stuff: other events and other characters.

Uhh? This is not how the console/pc versions work at all? Unless Grandprix does something like that which I have admittedly never bothered with.

Didn't you need to complete events to advance? Collect stars to unlock other events, characters and increasing difficulties?

Sure, there's no rings, but it's the same principle. Skill/effort is rewarded. You won't complete the game 100% if you're not able to complete each event in each difficulty.

The mobile version let's you enjoy the game without paying in the same way. Complete events, get rings, unlock more stuff.

I feel I should contribute to this discussion somehow:

"Boo! Mobile port!"

That pretty much sums up my viewpoint.

As for the Ryo thing, I don't really care about Ryo, but as was previously stated in the thread, it does rub salt into the wounds of the console players. There were reasonable excuses for why the PC DLC was exclusive, but in a lot of people's mind's mobile gaming has always been the "lower tier", so letting the "Filthy mobile peasants" have something that the console gamers can't have will cause bile to fly.

When was the last time SEGA ever put DLC for a game on consoles for this long after its original release date? Just asking.

But they're still happy to add DLC for the mobile and PC ports?

That wasn't the answer I was looking for...

I just wanted to know an honest question. Sheesh.
