Chickaroo Reviews - Tomb Raider 2 (PS1)

Post by chickaroo1 »

Lara Croft has now become a worldwide icon in both video gaming and has become a sex symbol because of her curvy and busty body. And all the fans wanted a sequel. They wanted more of Lara and her adventures. And that’s just what we have here today.

Release Dates: Windows/PS1: 10/31/97 (NA), 11/1/97 (EU), 1/22/98 (JP)

The Search for the Dagger of Xian
Story: This time around, Lara is looking for they mythical Dagger of Xian, a weapon used by an Emperor of China. He stabbed himself in the heart with the dagger and turned himself into a dragon. And now the dagger rests in the Great Wall. Right as Lara gets to the dagger, she gets attacked by a thug who works for Marco Bartoli, who is also on the lookout for the dagger. And now it’s a race against time to see who can get to the dagger first!

Introducing the New and Somewhat Improved Gameplay!
Gameplay: Oh man. Things have improved.
Just like in the first game, Lara’s mansion is back, acting as the tutorial in case you’re new to the series. Instead of a straight forward tutorial, you’re free to explore Lara’s mansion as you please.
There are some new moves Lara she can now do. She can climb up ladders and some walls. She can also use flares to light up dark rooms.
Instead of being in tombs, Lara is traveling around the world to famous places like the Great Wall of China, Venice, Italy and more. Some people hate that since the name of the series is Tomb Raider. But I like this change up.
Other than that, the gameplay is mostly the same as the last game. Lara still has tank like controls but they’re not as stiff as the last game.

Lara Looks Way Better
Graphics: Lara’s model looks way better here. Her braid is there in the gameplay and it flows and moves when she walks. Her boobs now have a curve to them (and they’re still big), her butt looks a little smoother but still square. Other than that environments look better too.

More Relaxing
Music: The main theme to the game is more beautiful. It’s so relaxing. It almost sounds like you’re in a beautiful jungle. As for the rest of the soundtrack, it depends on the situation. If Lara is in danger, the music will appear. If not then it’s just the sounds of her footsteps.
Music is composed by Nathan McCree.

Lara’s Best Adventure Yet?
Overall: Tomb Raider 2 is a lot more fun than the first. It looks better and feels a little better. More to do, more to explore. As of 2003, this game has sold over 8 million copies. It’s a pretty fun game. And it looks like Lara is here to stay.
