So it looks like the Cartoon is doing good while the game has hit rock bottom like Sonic 06.
Quite the shame really but it brings us back to the point originally made back then. Whenever SEGA tries "something new", it rarely works out. Also they need to learn from all their unfinished games that they seriously need to delay their games if necessary to ensure quality. Though then again this WAS made by BRB and not Sonic Team.
Still though it feels a shame and I get a bit irritated. Sonic was at a down point for so long until Sonic Team finally gets something right and creates the Hedgehog Engine. Finally they get some good games on board with Generations and Colours but all of a sudden, once again, they announce that they no longer want to work with the Hedgehog Engine and want to pursue something NEW, which was what got Sonic in the down town in the first place. Now we got Lost world and Boom and the list will just keep on piling up. This is of course my personal opinnion but I don't understand what Sonic Team was smoking to have decided after a few good games to move away from what was making Sonic games finally decent again. Mario games don't change their formula a lot and it sure works for them.

Y'know, I'm going to wait until I've played the games a little more (only played the first level of Rise of Lyric), and seen a few more episodes of the cartoon, and then I'm going to write an opinion piece on RS because I think what's happening here is pretty bloody stupid.
At the moment, initial impressions are as follows: The cartoon is good, with some jokes that made me smile, but not exactly laugh out loud. Rise of Lyric? Yeah, not brilliant, but the writing for the plot is still fairly good, and for what it is, I'm sure it'll be fine.
What you have to remember here is that Sonic Boom is NOT tailored towards the Sonic fan, casual or otherwise. The games and cartoons are there to get younger kids into the franchise, as evidenced by the fact that it's the most popular show for boys aged 6-14 on a 7am timeslot. Problem is, Sonic fans these days think every game is specifically for them, with most of them refusing to accept the fact that they're now approaching 20 (or older). The one game that was for them was Sonic 4, and guess what! Still not happy.
Anywho, I'm going to give the Wii U another blast later on, and probably some Shattered Crystal in bed, and I'll start planning an article for it.

Thit won't stop those pessimistic people who still thought Rise of Lryic didn't deliver on its promise, regardless of demographics.Gavvie wrote: What you have to remember here is that Sonic Boom is NOT tailored towards the Sonic fan, casual or otherwise. I can't comment on the game as I've not played it, though the "it's not for you" defense is nearly always awful, but the bolded might be the dumbest thing I'll read for the rest of this year as long as I don't accidentally end up reading a gamergate tweet. No shit they weren't happy, Sonic 4 was garbage. It's like if a vegetarian went into an old favourite restaurant of theirs and found out they no longer have vegetarian friendly meals but the owner said he'd see what he could do for them and what they got was a single soggy stick of celery found at the back of the fridge, served on a dirty plate.Gavvie wrote:What you have to remember here is that Sonic Boom is NOT tailored towards the Sonic fan, casual or otherwise. I saw on the 3DS eShop that Shattered Crystal is in a selection of "Top Picks" alongside the likes of Pokemon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire and Shantae & the Pirate's Curse. That must mean it's doing favorably well to be considered a hot commodity in the store, right?
I'd be surprised if Rise of Lyric is in the same boat though.

A better example would have been Sonic Generations, that was great and set up a foundation for something really interesting that didn't even need to based on classic levels, but alas, instead we got Lost World and something that looks like a poorly made Skylanders that removed everything that made people care about Skylanders. It's like getting Resident Evil 4 on the Wii only for the rest of the Wii games to be terrible lightgun games.Gavvie wrote:I didn't mean it like that. What I meant was that Sonic 4 was specifically tailored towards classic Sonic fans and yes, the end result was sketchy at best.
I always thought Top Picks were like "recommendations" on whatever big games is out, and the 3DS's current line up is dryer than a desert.Twinny wrote:I saw on the 3DS eShop that Shattered Crystal is in a selection of "Top Picks" alongside the likes of Pokemon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire and Shantae & the Pirate's Curse. also there's a free 3DS theme for Sonic Boom so SEGA seem to be doing some work to get this advertised (even though the only reason I know this is because of Nintendo's twitter)

So Sonic Boom failed to place in the Top 40 in the UK. I'm disappointed with how badly the game was in its final state. Esspically since naughty dog people worked on it. :/

Well given the mixed to negative reactions here in the United States, not surprised to see the game not appearing anywhere on any gaming chart.Gonic wrote:
