I agree with Shadowphantom. Sorry guys but My favorite game is and will be Sonic Adventure DX. I did grow up on the classics though. But as much as I try, I just can't get too much interested on the classic ones. I have ofcaurse finished Sonic 1, 2 and 3 on Sonic Mega Collection Plus but I just don't enjoy them as much as I do with the 3D ones.
I don't know why but somehow I don't enjoy the levels of Sonic Colors as much as I did with the day stages of Sonic Uneashed. I don't know but they don't feel the same and Sonic Unleashed's day stages were somehow more enjoyable for me. Maybe it's because Sonic Unleashed's day stages were more fast paste. I don't know but they day stages on Sonic Unleashed felt a lot more speedy. Ofcaurse I know that Sonic isn't all about speed but I just say that the day stages were more fun in my opinion.
One more thing, is it me or are most parts in the game in 2D possion? I am pretty shure that 80% of the time, I am playing in 2D possition and it makes me "wish" for some 3D fast paste gaming. In many levels, the whole level is 2D possitioned and many start and end with it too! Sonic unleashed had a balance of 2D and 3D possitioned gaming, maybe even less, but Sonic Colours just takes the 2D thing too far.
Now let me make this clear that I don't hate this game at all and don't think I am one of these negative Sonic fans. I actually like this game a lot and it is probebly my Second or third favorite Sonic game and not forgeting the awsome music and sound tracks But I had something else in my mind by "The same with the Day Stages of Sonic Unleashed". It is not a dissapointement though. Actually, I am quite happy with it. I am just saying that the game isn't without it's flaws.

And I understand your point of view, yes, some people may have grown up on Sonic from the post-Adventure era, but people born with a Mega Drive and nothing else (my case), will definitely prefer the classics. Heck, I even think Sonic 4 is a flop but I still play it. It's the factor of nostalgia.
Heck, I'm 16 and I still find the classics more enjoyable than the 3D games. Yes, I did love Adventure, but after playing it more times, I realized it aged poorly, due to the newer 3D games.
Example: When I played Sonic 4, I thought I was back to 1991/1992. Even if it was mostly rehashes. it was fun laughing at death traps and bottomless pits. (which makes me wonder: Why do kids these days like that their game being handed to them? What if Contra was made like that? What if it had only "3-hit kill, you lose a life" and a autopilot formula? Would it be fun?)
Anyway, tl;dr: Imagine you're in 1991 and play the classics again,. Without remotely thinking about the 3D games. I still feel goddamn happy with Green Hill Zone.

I geuss.
But I still don't mind the 2D games that much.
All this talking about old 2D sonic games, remind me of my old childhood. Ahhhhh good times...
I remember when I played the Second zone of Sonic 1, my imagination always took me beyond and I wondered what were behind those bars on the background. And I also remember that when I, for my first time, got to the lost labirinth zone, I didn't know how to get out of the water and I also didn't knew that the boubles gave your air so when I drowned for the first time, I quicky turned of the Sega Mega drive and never played Sonic 1 again, because I was so scared of the water.
I never played it again untill just last year when I got Sonic Mega Collection plus and gave Sonic 1 another chance.

Oh no! 2D gameplay in a 3D game!Reknoc wrote:Oh no! Not platforming in a platformer!
Anyways, BSF has a point. And a point which serves for ALL games. And I'll emphasize it. I mean, Platforming is always awesome. Contra was a platformer, became an awesome game. Super Mario Bros., Platformer, awesome game. Super Meat Boy, extreme platformer, awesome game.
That's what the classic Sonic games have! Well-made platforming. The Slicers in Metropolis Zone on Sonic 2 were a pain, but as it was part of the challenge, I tried harder to get past it. Heck, even Carnival Park Act 2 in Sonic 3. (...Yes, the barrel.)
My point being, even if Colours and Unleashed have platforming, they still are fun. It didn't slow down on my case. it made me try harder, even if I got a "Game Over" message every 5 minutes.
